Menor Que Yo

"Menor Que Yo" (English: Younger Than Me) is a song by Puerto Rican reggaetón recording artist Ivy Queen, from the platinum edition of her sixth studio album, Sentimiento (2007). It was composed by Queen, produced by Escobar & Zoprano and released as the lead single from the album on March 8, 2008. Lyrically, it talks about how age shouldn't matter if you're in love with someone. The lyrics are about what happens when an older women falls in love with a younger man. The song is also considered the answer to Luny Tunes's smash-hit "Mayor Que Yo". The song's accompanying music video was filmed in Panamá in January 2008. It was directed by Marlon Peña and produced by Alvis González. The song was able to peak at #25 on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airply chart.

Background

Ivy Queen began working on her sixth studio album in 2006 after divorcing from her husband of nine years. Wanting to go in a different direction than her previous albums, she said she wanted to give a 180-degree turn to what people think of reggaetón. She explained "Many think reggaetón is just nice rhythms to dance to. And they forget there are song-writers and composers, who, like everyone else, also suffer and aspire in love". She wanted the album to be about that. She said "Love is what makes us write things, what keeps us alive. If we did not have love, we would have nothing". After the commercial success of the album, which was certified Platinum by the United States Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a platinum edition and substantial live album was distributed by Univision and Machete in late-2007 and 2008 respectively. Of the seven new tracks featured on the platinum edition was "Menor Que Yo" while a re-recordings of the Top 10 hit "Que Lloren" and "En Que Fallamos" also appear.

Intervals and chords

With regard to intervals, the words major and minor just mean large and small, so a major third is a wider interval, and a minor third a relatively narrow one. The intervals of the second, third, sixth, and seventh (and compound intervals based on them) may be major or minor.

The other uses of major and minor, in general, refer to musical structures containing major thirds or minor thirds. A major scale is one whose third degree is a major third above the tonic, while a minor scale has a minor third degree. A major chord or major triad, similarly, contains a major third above the root, whereas a minor chord or minor triad contains a minor third above the root. In Western music, a minor chord, in comparison, "sounds darker than a major chord".

Que (tower)

Que (simplified Chinese: 阙; traditional Chinese: 闕) is a freestanding, ceremonial gate tower in traditional Chinese architecture. First developed in the Zhou Dynasty, que towers were used to form ceremonial gateways to tombs, palaces and temples throughout pre-modern China down to the Qing Dynasty. The use of que gateways reached its peak during the Han Dynasty, and today they can often be seen as a component of an architectural ensemble (a spirit way, shendao) at the graves of high officials during China's Han Dynasty. There are also some que found in front of temples. Richly decorated, they are among the most valuable surviving relics of the sculpture and architecture of that period.

Que in the Han Dynasty

It is thought that the que familiar to us are stone reproductions of the free-standing wooden and/or earthen towers which were placed in pairs in front of the entrances to the palaces, temples, and government buildings of the period (already known during the Qin Dynasty). Such free-standing towers, serving as markers of the symbolic boundary of a palace's or temple's premises, had developed from gate towers that were an integral part of a building or a city wall. None of such que in front of buildings have survived, but images of buildings with such towers in front of them can be seen on extant brick reliefs in Han Dynasty tombs, such as the one in Yinan County, Shandong).

Qué! is a free daily newspaper, published by Factoría de Información in Spain. It is available from Monday to Friday each week in several regions across Spain.

History

Qué! was first published in 2005 and in just two years has become the free daily newspaper with the second highest readership (ahead of ADN and Metro), with a 26% share of the advertising market. It has a workforce of 240 people and is, according to a survey by Ipsos Media on the free press, the best rated free daily. On 1 August 2007, Qué! joined Grupo Vocento reinforcing its position as a popular Spanish newspaper.
