Melaka United

Melaka United are a professional football club in Malacca City. Founded in 1924, the club's home ground since then has been Hang Tuah Stadium before moving to Hang Jebat Stadium in Paya Rumput which was built for the purpose of the 2010 Sukma Games. The team are managed by Melaka United Soccer Association (Malay: Persatuan Bolasepak Melaka Bersatu) and represents the state of Malacca in Malaysian football competitions. The team are based in Malacca City.

They currently play in the second division in Malaysian football, the Malaysia Premier League after been promoted as champion from 2015 Malaysia FAM League.

The club was formerly named simply as Malacca or fully as Malacca FA before being rebranded in August 2013 as Melaka United which will be used for 2014 season onwards. The club's nickname was Mousedeer before it was changed to Hang Tuah, the name being synonymous with strength and intelligence.

Melaka United's regular kit colours are green and white for shirts, shorts and socks. The club's crest has not been changed for a long time and for the revival of the team to Malaysia's Premier League, a new crest was revealed in attempts to re-brand the club and modernise its image. The previous crest still will be used as the association logo which has been introduced in the early 1920s while the new logo will be used for the club for the competition.

United! (novel)

United! is a 1973 children's novel by prolific British author Michael Hardcastle. It is the second in a series of books focusing on the fortunes of fictitious youth football team Bank Vale United.

Plot summary

United! follows youth football team Bank Vale United's attempts to improve their fortunes by buying a player from a rival team. Despite the fact that their team is amateur, United's impetuous striker Kevin Ripley believes there is no reason why they cannot pay for someone to come and join them. Kevin's team-mates Keith Nash and Gary Ansell, although sceptical, agree to the plan and the boys manage to raise the princely sum of £1 to purchase the talents of Nick Abel-Smith.

Despite Nick's obvious ability he is an unsettling influence and the Bank Vale players have to make a tough choice between success and loyalty. In addition to the usual football action Hardcastle includes a section on another of his interests, Motocross.

United was a 1990 television documentary series first screened in the United Kingdom on BBC Two in 1990. The series followed the fortunes of English football team Sheffield United during the 1989–90 football season.

Themes and format

Consisting of six half hour episodes, the series followed Sheffield United as they chased promotion from Division Two, with the final episode focusing on the final games of the season as they achieved this ambition. Each of the episodes concerned one element of United the cameras were given full behind-the-scenes access to the club's inner workings.

Malay (/məˈleɪ/;Malay: Bahasa Melayu; Jawi alphabet: بهاس ملايو) is a major language of the Austronesian family. It has an official status in Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. It is spoken by 270 million people across the Strait of Malacca, including the coasts of the Malay Peninsula of Malaysia and the eastern coast of Sumatra in Indonesia, and has been established as a native language of part of western coastal Sarawak and West Kalimantan in Borneo.
