Mint (restaurant)

Mint Restaurant was a Michelin star–winning restaurant located in Ranelagh, Dublin in Ireland. It was owned by the controversial celebrity chef Dylan McGrath. The restaurant was featured in the 2008 RTÉ One fly on the wall documentary The Pressure Cooker, a programme which led to much complaint from McGrath's fellow chefs in the Irish media about his alleged mistreatment of his staff. The closure of Mint Restaurant was publicised in the Evening Herald on 23 April 2009.

Image magazine has described Mint Restaurant as "a place of worship" and Hot Press has described the venue as a "gastronomic playground".The Sunday Business Post's Ross Golden Bannon reported: "It is a long, long time since a meal actually haunted me in the way a beautiful painting or a thoughtful book might".

Mint (candy)

A mint is a food item characterized by the presence of mint flavoring or real mint oil, whether it be peppermint oil, spearmint oil, or another natural or artificial source; the sweets are often referred to as "peppermints." They are usually used to freshen breath. It is possible to obtain these sweets in a sugar-free version. Wintergreen and other oils or flavors are also frequently used in mints; however, these are not of the mint (Mentha) family or botanical group.

Although historically consumed as any other type of candy, mints are especially popular worldwide as after-meal refreshment candies since the taste and smell of mint oil and its active components are quite strong and feel clean and cool to the mouth as well as soothing to the stomach.

Hard mints

Hard mints are hard candies or boiled sweets flavored with mint. Examples of hard mints include starlight mints, also known as pinwheel mints, white, circular, with red rays emitting from the middle; candy canes; humbugs; and brand name mints such as Altoids.

*Mañana

*Mañana, commonly referred to as Mañana, is a band from Basel, Switzerland. It is a five piece band, with Manuel Bürkli performing the vocals and guitar, Jan Krattiger on guitar, Jenny Jans on piano, Samuel Burri on bass, and Lorenz Hunziker on drums.

History

Mañana was founded by Manuel Bürkli and Jan Krattiger (an acoustic duo) when they were joined by bassist Samuel Burri, pianist Stephan Bader and drummer Lorenz Hunziker.

They started performing in venues around Basel, in 2003.

They were quickly snapped up by the label Inside Agency, and soon begun recording some of their songs. Soon enough they were supporting for even bigger bands, including well-known British acts I Am Kloot and Keane, Mew and even a-ha.

Mañana's first record, Fast Days EP, was released in December 2003 throughout Switzerland. It contained five tracks from which the band had recently recorded.

The band was then able to gain world wide exposure, with their signature track, "Miss Evening", being featured on the soundtrack of EA Sports game, FIFA 2005. The song, which had been getting frequent airplay in Switzerland and around Europe, was heard by hundreds of thousands of people, who would form the basis of their wide and dedicated fan base.

Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)

"Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)" is a popular song that was written by Peggy Lee and Dave Barbour and published in 1947.

Peggy Lee also recorded the song, on November 25, 1947, with Dave Barbour's orchestra as backing. Released by Capitol Records (catalog number 15022), it became her biggest chart hit. For the week ending January 23, 1948, the single entered Billboard's Best Sellers chart, where it spent 21 weeks, nine of those at number one.

Mañana is Spanish for "morning" or "tomorrow". The theme of the humorous song is the singer wanting to put off urgent tasks until the next day. The song is typically performed with stereotyped Hispanic accents, and with a Latin flavor to the backup band.
