Matt Moore (actor)

Matthew Moore (January 8, 1888 – January 21, 1960) was an Irish-born American actor and director. He appeared in at least 221 motion pictures from 1912 to 1958.

Biography

Born in Kells, Ireland, he and his brothers, Tom, Owen, and Joe (1895–1926), and a sister Mary Moore(1890-1919), he emigrated to the United States as a steerage passenger on board the S.S. Anchoria and was inspected on Ellis Island in May 1896 . They all went on to successful movie careers.

Once his brothers made a name for themselves, Moore made his debut in the role as the minister in the silent short Tangled Relations (1912) starring Florence Lawrence and Owen Moore. In 1913, Matt Moore had a prominent role in the "white slavery" drama, Traffic in Souls.

Moore played the role as Hector MacDonald in the MGM crime/drama The Unholy Three (1925) co-starring Lon Chaney and Mae Busch, which was a huge hit that year. He played the role as Stanley "Stan" Wentworth in Coquette (1929) opposite Mary Pickford and Johnny Mack Brown. Coquette was the first talkie of Pickford, ex-wife of his brother Owen.

Matt Moore (basketball)

Matthew Moore is a former National Basketball League basketballer from Townsville Queensland, who won a NBL Championship with South East Melbourne Magic in 1996 and played in the 1997 NBL Final Series. He also played for Brisbane Bullets and Newcastle Falcons.

Moore attended St Joseph's College, Nudgee and played First V GPS basketball in 1988 whilst in only in year 10, achieving Most Valuable Player. As a senior in 1990 he captained Nudgee to their first ever GPS Basketball premiership whilst averaging a GPS record 38ppg as well as representing Queensland in U16, U18 And U20 national tournaments.

An athletic guard Moore joined the Brisbane Bullets in for the 1991 and 1992 seasons. In 1991 the rookie was a finalist in the NBL Sega Slam Dunk Contest. During the 1992 NBL season he accepted Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, Illinois. After leading NJCAA Div II in steals, third in assists Moore accepted a Scholarship to the University of Maine, at the NCAA Division I level he was a two-year starter before returning to Australia to play in the National Basketball League for the Newcastle Falcons and South East Melbourne Magic.

Donald Matthew "Matt" Moore (born April 22, 1982) is an American politician who has served as chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party since 2013. From June 8, 2013 until April 11, 2015, he was the youngest state chairman in America's two major political parties.

Moore is a regular commentator for Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. On June 12, 2014, Moore earned the The New York Times "Quotation of the Day" for describing the power of grassroots activists in the social media era.

On May 2, 2015, Moore was re-elected to a second term. He won 83% of the vote.

Early life, education, and early career

Moore was born and raised in Tifton, Georgia. Moore attended Georgia Tech, where he majored in industrial engineering. At Georgia Tech, Moore was a Presidential Scholar, the highest academic scholarship awarded to undergraduate students. He graduated with honors in 2005. After working for Republican political organizations in Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C., Moore moved to South Carolina in 2007.
