Matt Lucas

Matthew Richard "Matt" Lucas (born 5 March 1974) is an English comedian, screenwriter, actor and singer, best known for his work with David Walliams in the television show Little Britain, as well as for his portrayals of the scorekeeping baby George Dawes in the comedy panel game Shooting Stars and Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Alice in Wonderland.

In May 2007, he was placed seventh in the list of the UK's 100 most influential gay men and women by British newspaper The Independent.

Early life

Lucas was born in Paddington, London, the son of Diana (née Williams) and John Stanley Lucas (1944–1996), who ran a chauffeuring business. Some of Lucas' mother's family fled from Germany during the Second World War. Lucas grew up in a Reform Jewish household. He has had alopecia since his childhood, and lost all of his hair when he was six years old. Lucas's father died of a heart attack aged 52 in Brent, Greater London.

Education

Lucas was educated at Aylward Primary School and The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, an independent school in Borehamwood in Hertfordshire, the same school attended by comic actors David Baddiel and Sacha Baron Cohen. He went on to study at the University of Bristol between 1993 and 1995. He also spent time with the National Youth Theatre, where he first met future writing partner David Walliams.

Matt Lucas (singer)

Matt Lucas (born July 19, 1935) is an American Rock & Roll, Soul and Blues singer, drummer, and songwriter. He is best known for his crazy rocked-up 1963 version of the Hank Snow country classic "I'm Movin" On". He was inducted into The Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 1999, The International Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 2004 and The Southern Legends Entertainment & Performing Arts Hall of Fame in 2005.

Early life

Born on July 19, 1935 in the General Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, he grew up in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. At the age of seven he discovered he was adopted when he found his adoption papers and a letter dated September 6, 1935 signed by the Assistant Superintendent Tennessee Children's Home Society Shelby County Branch.

His father worked for a theater chain in Poplar Bluff, which had three theaters; The Criterion, The Jewel, The Strand and later The Rogers Theater. This gave him an opportunity to go to the movies for free and watching the great MGM musicals along with attending church services turned him on to music.

Matt Lucas (rugby union)

Matt Lucas (born 29 January 1992 in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia) is a rugby union footballer. His regular playing position is scrum-half. He has been named in the Waratahs Extended Playing Squad for the 2013 Super Rugby season.

He represented Australia under 20 in both the 2011 and 2012 IRB Junior World Championship.

Relatives

Matt Lucas is the younger brother of rugby player Ben Lucas who plays for Montpellier in the French Top 14 league.
