Mazu (goddess)

Mazu (traditional Chinese: 媽祖; simplified Chinese: 妈祖), also spelt Matsu and Ma-tsu, is the Chinese patron goddess who is said to protect seafarers, such as fishermen and sailors. The worship of Mazu began in the Song dynasty. Mazu is widely worshiped in the coastal regions of China, especially in Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Tianjin and Hainan. She is also worshiped in Taiwan and other places in East/Southeast Asia.

Her birthplace was Meizhou (湄州) in Putian County (莆田縣), Fujian Province. She was born in the year 960. Her family had the surname Lin (林). She had the name Lin Moniang (Chinese: 林默娘). She died on 4 October 987. After her death, she was remembered as a young lady in a red dress, who would forever roam over the seas.

The Sekirei manga and anime features an extensive cast of characters. The main character of the series is Minato Sahashi, a high school graduate trying to get into college. However, his life changes when he meets Musubi who, unbeknown to him at the time, is a Sekirei; a superpowered being who must fight with others of her kind.

The protagonists are residents of Maison Izumo (出雲荘, Izumo-sō), a boarding house in North City. The house was built by Takehito Asama and Kaoru Seo. Miya is the current owner and landlady.

Minato Sahashi

Minato Sahashi (佐橋 皆人, Sahashi Minato) is the male protagonist of the series. Minato's known family consists of his mother (Takami), his grandmother (whom Minato stated could live another 100 years), and his younger sister Yukari. Recently it was revealed that Hiroto Minaka, the MBI's director and CEO, is Minato's father. Minato is highly intelligent, yet due to his inability to cope under pressure has failed the college entrance exam twice, and as a result he has been repeatedly insulted. Despite possessing a keen intellect, Minato is usually quite dense and simple-minded.
