Masters (darts)

"The Masters" (also known as the Unibet Masters for sponsorship purposes) is a PDC darts tournament which features the top 16 darts players according to the Order of Merit.

The inaugural tournament, held in 2013, was won by Phil Taylor, who defeated Adrian Lewis 10-1 in the final.James Wade won the following year by defeating Mervyn King 11-10 in the 2014 final. Michael van Gerwen became the third different champion in 3 years when he defeated Raymond van Barneveld 11-6. The reigning champion is Michael van Gerwen, who won his second Masters title in a row by defeating Dave Chisnall 11-6.

In 2013 and 2014 the tournament took place in the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland and was played in late October/early November. However, the tournament was moved to February in 2015 and had a new venue at the Arena:MK in Milton Keynes, England. The 2016 edition was held in January of that year.

Format

The tournament features the top 16 of the Order of Merit, with all players being seeded. The first round and the quarter finals are played over best of 19 legs, the semi finals and the final are played over best of 21 legs.

Masters (The Tripods)

The Masters are fictional characters in John Christopher's The Tripods trilogy. They are first mentioned and seen in chapter 6 of The City of Gold and Lead.

Biology

According to Will, the chief protagonist:

As well as physical differences to humans the Masters display chemical ones. The air they breathe is thick and green, like a chlorine fog (although the precise composition of it is never revealed). The human slaves of their city must wear specially provided breathing apparatus, although they are provided with their own atmosphere in cramped but functional living quarters. Unprotected exposure to the air of the city is quickly fatal (as is exposure to the Earth's atmosphere for the Masters). The apparatus provided for slaves depends on a kind of spongy cartridge which must be periodically replaced. Similarly, foods eaten by Masters and Slaves have nothing in common, (with the exception of sugars) although it is never revealed whether the Masters' food would be fatal to a human, or if the Masters themselves are able to ingest normal Earth food.

Tape (play)

Tape is a 1999 play by Stephen Belber. It was first produced at the Actors Theatre of Louisville as part of the 2000 Humana Festival of New American Plays. It was later filmed by Richard Linklater as Tape starring Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard, and Uma Thurman. It follows classical unities of action, time and space, featuring three characters in a single plot (narrative) regarding their differing perspectives of past events, in one unbroken period of real-time, in a single motel room set.

Synopsis

Tape is set in a motel room in Lansing, Michigan. Vince, an outgoing drug dealer/volunteer firefighter, is in town to support his old high school friend’s entry into the Lansing film festival.

His friend, documentary filmmaker Jon Saltzman, joins Vince in his motel room and the two begin to reminisce about their high school years. They get on the subject of Amy Randall, Vince's former girlfriend. It appears that whilst they dated for some time, Vince and Amy never had sex. However, after their relationship had ended, Amy had slept with Jon. Naturally, Vince was hurt even though he and Amy had broken up some time previously.

Tape (film)

Tape is a 2001 American camcorder drama film directed by Richard Linklater and written by Stephen Belber, based on his play of the same name. It stars Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard, and Uma Thurman. The entire film takes place in real time.

Plot

The entire film is set inside a Lansing, Michigan motel room. Vince, a drug dealer/volunteer firefighter from Oakland, rents the room in his hometown to support his old high school friend's entry into the Lansing Film Festival.

His friend, documentary filmmaker Jon Salter, joins Vince in his motel room and the two reminisce about their high school years. At first, the two are happy to see one another, but friction soon develops. Eventually, they get on the subject of Amy, Vince's former girlfriend. It appears that, while they dated for some time, Vince and Amy never had sex. However, after or at the point when their relationship had ended, Amy slept with Jon.

Vince claims Amy had told him that Jon had raped her. Vince becomes obsessed with, and eventually succeeds in getting a verbal confession from Jon. Immediately after Jon's admission, Vince pulls out a hidden tape recorder that had been recording their whole conversation, much to Jon's horror. Vince then tells Jon that he has invited Amy to dinner, and that she will be arriving shortly.

Tap E

Tap E is a former storage building of a bottling plant in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark, part of Carlsberg's historic brewery site which is now known simply as the Carlsberg area. After the production of beer in the area stopped in 2009, the listed building has been taken unto use as a cultural venue which houses both a centre for modern dance, Dansehallerne, and Fotografisk Center, a gallery and digital laboratory dedicated to fine art photography.

The building borders on the J. C. Jacobsen Garden accessed through a pergola running along the left-hand side of the building.

History

Part of the historic Carlsberg Brewery site in Valby, Tap E was originally built as a mineral water factory in 1922 to the design of the architect Carl Harild who also designed a number of other buildings in the area for Carlsberg around that time. The plant soon became too small and in 1927 was expanded with three additional floors. In 1962 the architect Sven Eske Kristensen designed another extension which made it the largest production facility for mineral water in the Nordic countries.
