María Teresa Prieto
María Teresa Prieto (1896 – 1982) was a Spanish composer who lived and worked in Mexico.
Life
María Teresa Prieto was born in Oviedo in 1896 to a middle-class Asturian family. She studied with pianist and composer Saturnino del Fresno in Asturias and Benito de la Parra at the Conservatory of Madrid. She went to stay with her brother Carlos in Mexico in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War where she studied with Manuel Ponce and Carlos Chavez. She also studied with Darius Milhaud at Mills College in Oakland, California, in 1946 and 1947. She returned to Spain briefly in 1958 to receive the Samuel Ross prize for Modal Quartet, but never returned to live there.

Early life and education
Maria Teresa, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, was born in Marianao, Havana, Cuba, to José Antonio Mestre y Álvarez (Vedado, Havana, 1926 -) and wife (m. Vedado, Havana, 1951) María Teresa Batista y Falla de Mestre (Vedado, Havana, 1928–1988), both from bourgeois families of Spanish descent.
The Mestre family (descended in the female line from Ferdinand I of León and Castile) have as their patriarch Arnau Mestre, born Landorthe, who married in 1625 in San Pedro de Ribas. One of his descendants, Francisco Mestre y Roig Benaprés (born in 1787 in Sitges) travelled to Cuba in 1830 where he married Josefa Dominguez y Morales (born in 1764, daughter of Andres Domínguez Bencomo and Manuela Morales Ponce de León), being the founder of the Mestre family in Cuba. The Grand Duchess also descends through her father from the Spanish Espinosa de los Monteros noble family.

María Teresa is a 1972 Venezuelan telenovela written by Cuban writer Delia Fiallo and broadcast on Venevisión. The telenovela starred Lupita Ferrer and José Bardina as the main protagonists.
Plot
María Teresa is a beautiful and charming woman who lives with her sickly mother Magdalena and her hard-working father Antonio. María Teresa works at a flower shop and one day, she meets Román, a young man who plays piano at a restaurant nearby. They both fall in love with each other, though she doesn't know that he is actually a millionaire.
María Teresa tells her mother she has fallen in love with Román López Bello. Seeing she will die soon, she reveals to her husband Antonio that Teresa isn't his daughter but the daughter of her sister Eleonor who went to jail for the alleged murder of Román's father. but Eleonor wasn't responsible for his death but Alfredo Fuentes Tovar, his brother. Years later, Eleanor is released from jail and introduces herself as María Teresa's aunt. When María Teresa introduces Román to her, she recognizes the similarities he has with his father and afraid her secret will be known, tries to separate them. María Eugenia also is opposed to the relationship due to mere social prejudices. Alfredo who still lives with his sister tries to reconcile with Eleanor but she cannot forgive him because of his weakness in the past, and he mistakes Reina, her niece, to be their daughter.
