Martelle, Iowa
Martelle is a city in Jones County, Iowa, United States. The population was 255 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Martelle was platted in 1872 when the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad was being built through the neighborhood.
Geography
Martelle is located at 42°1′14″N 91°21′30″W / 42.02056°N 91.35833°W / 42.02056; -91.35833 (42.020421, -91.358314).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.34 square miles (0.88 km2), all of it land.

2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 255 people, 114 households, and 81 families residing in the city. The population density was 750.0 inhabitants per square mile (289.6/km2). There were 122 housing units at an average density of 358.8 per square mile (138.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.6% White, 1.6% Asian, and 0.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.8% of the population.
There were 114 households of which 19.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.4% were married couples living together, 7.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 28.9% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.59.
