Mars Cube One

Mars Cube One (or MarCO) is a Mars flyby mission consisting of two nanospacecraft, of a size that JPL has referred to as a "6U CubeSat," that is planned for launch in 2018 or later alongside NASA's InSight Mars lander mission. Mars Cube One is intended to provide a communications link to Earth for InSight during mission critical entry, descent, and landing when InSight will be out of sight from the Earth. Mars Cube One is expected to be the first spacecraft built to the CubeSat form to operate beyond Earth orbit.

Launch

The launch of Mars Cube One is being managed by NASA's Launch Services Program. The launch was originally scheduled for 4 March 2016 on an Atlas V 401, but the mission was postponed after a major test failure of InSight.

Objectives

The two "MarCO" CubeSats (A and B), are identical. They measure 36.6 cm × 24.3 cm × 11.8 cm (14.4 in × 9.6 in × 4.6 in) (about 10.5x the volume of a 10x10x10 cm 1U cubesat) with one of them serving as backup. They will fly by Mars during the landing phase and relay InSight's telemetry in real time. MarCO is a technology capability demonstration of communications relay system.

CUBE is a German bicycle manufacturer that produces many types of bike, but is best known for its mountain bikes. Cube bikes are ridden by Belgian UCI Continental team Wanty-Groupe Gobert.

The company was founded 1993 by the former student Marcus Pürner, who began with an area of 50 m² in his father's furniture factory in Waldershof, Germany. Today the company has expanded its production area to 20,000 m² and sells to more than 34 countries in Europe and Asia.

Cube2

The MobiBLU Cube2 is an MP3 player, and the successor to the MobiBLU DAH-1500i cube. It possesses all of the features of the original cube, yet in addition has a color OLED screen that is capable of displaying both photos and videos. The cube itself is only slightly larger than the original cube, now being 25.4 mm (1 inch) cubed instead of 24 mm (0.94 inches) cubed. Other cosmetic differences include rounded corners, rubbery buttons, and a 96x96 pixel screen (as opposed to 96x64). It is sold in 1 or 2 GB versions.

Mars

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second smallest planet in the Solar System, after Mercury. Named after the Roman god of war, it is often referred to as the "Red Planet" because the iron oxide prevalent on its surface gives it a reddish appearance. Mars is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth.

The rotational period and seasonal cycles of Mars are likewise similar to those of Earth, as is the tilt that produces the seasons. Mars is the site of Olympus Mons, the largest volcano and second-highest known mountain in the Solar System, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in the Solar System. The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 40% of the planet and may be a giant impact feature. Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos, which are small and irregularly shaped. These may be captured asteroids, similar to 5261 Eureka, a Mars trojan.

Mars (actor)

Mars (Chinese: 火星), born Cheung Wing Fat (蔣榮發) is a Hong Kong actor, action director, stuntman and martial artist. He is one of Jackie Chan's best friends.

Early life

Cheung Wing Fat was born in Hong Kong in 1954. He got the nickname "Weird Fire Star" after being involved in a car accident leaving him with two scars on his head. While working as a stuntman on a film in Thailand he got promoted to a supporting actor and needed a stage name. He picked "Mars" based on his nickname. He became a student of Madame Fan Fok Wah (粉菊花, aka Fen Juhua) in The Spring and Autumn Drama School. Every day, he practiced from 5am to 9pm.

Film career

Mars started acting in 1966 at the age of 12. He started out as an extra and later in supporting roles. Lackey and the Lady Tiger (1980) is only the film in which he played the leading role.

In 1971, Mars got his nickname "Mars" from a stunt co-ordinator who suggested it to him since his nickname on stage was Martian Monster, and he ended up with the name Mars after filming The Rescue.
