Mark Moore (born 12 January 1965) is a British dance music record producer and DJ. He was founder of the dance/sampling pioneers S'Express, and runs the London nightclubs, 'Electrogogo' and 'Can Can'.

Biography

Moore began his DJ career in 1983 playing at the fashionable London club, 'The Mud Club', run by Philip Sallon. Later that year as his popularity grew he was given a slot at the alternative, mixed/gay night 'Asylum' at Heaven nightclub which later became 'Pyramid' at Heaven. He soon became a successful DJ often appearing in Time Out's 'best DJ' polls. As well as playing new-wave electronic dance music, such as Yello, Cabaret Voltaire, Soft Cell and New Order; Moore was one of the first DJs in the UK to support and play Chicago House music and Detroit Techno.

In 1988 Moore launched S'Express with co-writer/co-producer Pascal Gabriel. The first single "Theme From S'Express" went to number 1 in the UK Singles Chart, and is credited by Muzik magazine as 'kick starting the UK house scene'. This was followed up with "Superfly Guy" which reached number 5 in the UK Chart.

Mark Moore (ice hockey)

Mark Moore (born February 13, 1977) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenseman. He was drafted and signed by the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL, and played 115 games in the ECHL and an additional 15 games in the American Hockey League.

Career

Moore was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, selected 179th overall. At the time, Moore was a member of the Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey team. During his senior year, Moore and his two younger brothers Steve and Dominic were all members of the Harvard hockey team, with both younger brothers finishing the season as the top two scorers on the team. The three brothers were the first fraternal trio to skate for the Harvard Crimson and only the sixth fraternal trio in NCAA history to skate on the same team.

Upon graduating from Harvard, Moore signed an NHL player contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He attended the Penguins' training camp and was eventually assigned to their ECHL affiliate in Wheeling. Although Moore was not known for his scoring (he averaged 5 points per season while at Harvard), he scored 22 points in 66 games during the 2001-02 ECHL season. Moore split his time between the Nailers and the Augusta Lynx in his final season, during which he was injured.

Mark Moore (educator)

Mark Jonathan Moore (born 25 April 1961) was a teacher and recent headmaster (and Head of College) of Clifton College in Bristol - he succeeded Stephen Spurr in 2005. Clifton College is a co-educational independent school and has around 720 children in the Upper School of which about a third are girls.

Moore was educated at Wolverhampton Grammar School and later read English at Downing College, Cambridge.

Teaching experience

Before joining Clifton, Moore was the Head of English and the Director of University Entrance at Radley College and had previously taught at Marlborough College and Eton College where he was also the head of English.

Sporting achievements

At Cambridge, Moore captained the university Eton Fives team and was the national Eton Fives champion.
