Mark Metcalf

Mark Howes Metcalf (born March 11, 1946 in Findlay, Ohio) is an American television and film actor.

Early life

Metcalf attended Westfield High School in Westfield, New Jersey and is a graduate of the University of Michigan (BA 1968).

Career

Film and television work

Metcalf is most known to two different generations for two notable roles. In the 1978 college comedy Animal House, he played the sadistic ROTC leader Doug Neidermeyer, who was described in the conclusion of the film (through on-screen captions) as having been "killed in Vietnam by his own troops". He played a very similar character in the Twisted Sister music videos "We're Not Gonna Take It", as the father, and "I Wanna Rock", as a high school teacher. In each video, he used his Animal House catchphrases, "A Twisted Sister pin?!? On your uniform?!?" and "You're all worthless and weak!" respectively.

He portrayed a very similar character in the 1996 movie The Stupids and the sitcom Teen Angel. His other films included Julia (1977), Chilly Scenes of Winter (1979), Where the Buffalo Roam (1980), The Final Terror (1983), The Heavenly Kid (1985), One Crazy Summer (1986), Mr. North (1988), Oscar (1991) and Sorority Boys (2002).

Mark Metcalf (footballer)

Mark Peter Metcalf (born 25 September 1965 in Norwich) is a former professional footballer.

Metcalf, a midfielder, began his career with Norwich City. While at Carrow Road he won England youth caps and an FA Youth Cup winner's medal in 1983. He made just one substitute appearance for the club's first team, however, on 13 November 1982 in a 1-0 defeat against West Ham at Upton Park. His first team opportunities in the professional game were effectively ended by a broken leg that he suffered at the outset of his career, from which he never fully recovered.

He was released by the club in 1985 but was re-signed by the Canaries later that year. He was released again in 1987 and played non-league football in Norfolk for King's Lynn, Wroxham, Lakeford United, Diss Town and Wymondham Town.
