Mark Kennedy (born 7 July 1969, Camberwell, South London) (also known as Mark Stone and Flash) is a former London Metropolitan Police officer who, whilst attached to the police service's National Public Order Intelligence Unit, (NPOIU) infiltrated many protest groups between 2003 and 2010 before he was unmasked by political activists as an undercover policeman on 21 October 2010, and confirmed by the media outlet three days later.

Career

According to The Guardian newspaper, Kennedy was born in Camberwell, South London on 7 July 1969, joined the Metropolitan Police around 1994 and served with them until March 2010. He was revealed to be a police infiltrator of protest groups on 21 October 2010.

In January 2011, it was reported that Kennedy was one of the first officers to work as an undercover infiltrator for the National Public Order Intelligence Unit, and had spent seven years within the environmental protest movement.

In a Channel 4 interview broadcast on 14 November 2011, Kennedy stated that, in the guise of an environmental activist, he was used by the police forces of 22 countries and was responsible for the closing down of the Youth House community centre in Copenhagen.

Mark Kennedy (politician)

Mark Raymond Kennedy (born April 11, 1955 in Benson, Minnesota), is an American businessman and Republican Party politician. Kennedy currently leads the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management. Previously, he served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007. Kennedy did not seek re-election in 2006, instead running for the U.S. Senate. He won the Republican nomination with over 90% of the vote but lost the general election to Democratic–Farmer–Labor nominee Amy Klobuchar, by 58% to 38%.

Early life and business career

Kennedy graduated from Pequot Lakes High School in 1975, and St. John's University in 1979. He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant and went on to receive his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business in 1983.

Kennedy's business career prior to the U.S. Congress included working for The Pillsbury Company, assisting with their acquisition of Häagen-Dazs and arranging for financing to support their international expansion. As a senior executive at Federated Department Stores, he helped the company position itself for growth to become, as Macy's, the world's leading department store. He was profiled in May 1992's Institutional Investor Magazine, which featured him on its cover as one of “America's top CFOs”. At ShopKo Stores, he was responsible for merchandising, marketing and store management.
