Mark Day (actor)

Mark Day born October 4, is a Canadian actor and producer.

Biography

Day was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and raised in the small Cape Breton town of Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. He got his first part-time job at age 14 as a radio DJ for the local radio station, CIGO-FM in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.

He studied theater at Acadia University before making his feature film debut as a young fisherman in the 2000 film Deeply starring Kirsten Dunst. His other film roles have included Songs in Ordinary Time, A Glimpse of Hell, Julie Walking Home starring Miranda Otto and A Hole in One. He has also made numerous television appearances, most notably a recurring role on the critically praised Showcase Television sitcom It's Me...Gerald.

He also has a lead role on the CBC Television pilot Cheap Draft directed by award winning filmmaker Jay Dahl. Day was also the Co-Host for CBC's Hockeyville 2006. Day was featured in a supporting lead role on the CBC, 8-part, one hour mini series October 1970 which was based on the October Crisis in Quebec involving the terrorist activities of the FLQ. Day is currently developing a television project as a writer and producer and is also Producing a feature film recently announced for development. Mark can also be see in the CTV/CBS co-production police drama series Flashpoint as Leon Weeks in (Ep.317 "The Good Citizen"). He can be seen in the pilot of A&E's drama series "Breakout Kings" which aired in 2011. Mark is also the voice of Pa James and a recurring actor on all five seasons of CBC's The Ron James Show.

Mark Day is a British film editor. He won two BAFTA Awards for Best Editing for State of Play and Sex Traffic, both directed by David Yates with whom Day also worked with on The Way We Live Now, The Young Visiters and The Girl in the Café; the former two projects gained Day two Royal Television Society award nominations for Best Tape and Film Editing along with two BAFTA nominations and the latter project gained Day a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing. Day has also worked with Yates on The Sins and four Harry Potter films: Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Day has edited over thirty television films and dramas.

Canadian Idol (season 6)

The sixth and final season of Canadian Idol is the sixth and final installation of the Idol series in Canada and premiered on June 3, 2008, on the CTV Television Network. It is again hosted by Ben Mulroney, with the addition of Jully Black as a special correspondent and general mentor to the contestants. Farley Flex, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan and Zack Werner all returned as judges. This season saw a number of major and minor show format changes in an effort to keep the franchise fresh and innovative. The final episode of the season, in which the Canadian Idol was crowned, aired on September 10, 2008. The winner of the sixth season was Theo Tams. The sixth season became the final season of Canadian Idol following its cancellation in 2009.
