Mark Dennis

Mark Earl Dennis (born 2 May 1961) is an English former footballer who played at left back for Birmingham City, Southampton, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace. He was capped three times for England under-21s.

Dennis was born in Streatham, London. As a player, he was a First Division runner-up with Southampton in 1983–84, and won promotion from the Second Division in 1979–80. His "no nonsense attitude and tough tackling" earned him the nickname Psycho, long before this was given to Stuart Pearce; Dennis was sent off 12 times in his career. He spent time as assistant manager at Eastleigh F.C., was a presenter on 107.8 Radio Hampshire, and acted as director of football at Winchester City.

Mark Dennis (born May 13) is an American director, editor, producer and composer. His debut feature, Strings, won him Best Director awards at the Tulsa International Film Festival and Long Island International Film Expo (shared with collaborator Ben Foster) and was an Official Selection at the Hollywood Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, Gotham Film Festival, and Ventura Film Festival.

Life and career

Dennis was born in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Northwest Vista College and the University of Texas at Austin.

Dennis directed, produced, and edited (along with Ben Foster) the independent film, Strings, which won Audience Awards at the Breckenridge Film Festival, White Sands International Film Festival, and Silver City Film Festival. Based on his own life experiences, Dennis wrote the screenplay for Strings while working at TSTV, the student television station at the University of Texas where he created and acted as show runner for the award-winning sketch comedy program, That's Awesome! starring Zach Anner.

Alberta Ballet Company

The Alberta Ballet (also known as the Alberta Ballet Company) is located in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta. It is Canada's third largest dance company.

Creation

The Alberta Ballet was founded by Dr. Ruth Carse in 1958 and became a professional company in 1966.

Development

Carse directed the company until 1975. She was followed by Jeremy Leslie-Spinks (1975), Brydon Paige (1976–1988), and Ali Pourfarrokh (1988–1998). During Pourfarrokh's tenure, in 1990, the company merged with the Calgary City Ballet and moved into the Nat Christie Centre in Calgary. Since then, it has performed in both Edmonton and Calgary.

Former San Francisco Ballet dancer Mikko Nissinen then directed the company until 2002. Nissinen introduced Balanchine works, while continuing to commission new works from Canadian and international choreographers. He toured the company to China, Finland, and Egypt.

Jean Grand-Maître was then appointed as artistic director. Alberta Ballet continues to tour throughout North America and China.
