A Dam was a small Indian copper coin. The coin was first introduced by Sher Shah Suri during his rule of India between 1540 and 1545, along with Mohur, the gold coin and Rupiya the silver coin Later on, the Mughal Emperors standardised the coin along with other silver (Rupiya) and gold (Mohur) coins in order to consolidate the monetary system across India.
Watch Your Language lists the coin as one of the possible sources for the English phrase “I don't give a dam[n]″, due to its small worth, but provides other sources as well.

Mécène Marié de l'Isle (22 May 1811 – 14 August 1879) was a French musician and opera singer, who used the stage name Marié.
Born Claude-Marie-Mécène Marié de l'Isle in Château-Chinon, he went to Paris to study music at the Conservatoire, where he won first prize for double-bass in 1830. He began his career as a tenor in the opera chorus of the Opéra-Comique in Paris and made his professional opera début at the opera house in Metz as Raoul in Meyerbeer's Les Huguenots in 1838. The following year he portrayed his first role at the Opéra-Comique, singing Albert in Louis Clapisson’s La symphonie. In 1840 he had the distinction of portraying Tonio in the world premiere of Donizetti’s La fille du régiment.
Marié left the Opéra-Comique in 1841 to join the roster of principal tenors at the Paris Opera. He remained there through 1844, singing such roles as Eléazar in La Juive, Max in Der Freischütz, Arnold in Guillaume Tell, Raoul, Fernand in La favorite, and the title role in Robert le diable. He began to experience vocal difficulties in his upper register in the mid-1840s and decided to retrain his voice as a baritone. In 1845-1848 he sang his first baritone roles at La Monnaie and in opera houses in Italy.
Gabrielle is a fictional character played by Renee O'Connor in Xena: Warrior Princess (1995-2001). She is referred to by fans as the Battling Bard of Potidaea. Her trademark weapons are the Amazon fighting staff and later, the sais. She was also an Amazon Princess and later an Amazon Queen. The character's development and progression is a story that spans the entire show's run, with her first appearance in "Sins of the Past" seeing her as a naive farm girl, and the final episode, "A Friend In Need (Part 2)" seeing her as a fully formed but rational warrior, set to follow in the deceased Xena's footsteps.
The dwarf planetShe was listed in AfterEllen.com's Top 50 Favorite Female TV Characters.
O'Connor was chosen to play the role after she impressed producers with her performance in the Hercules television movie The Lost Kingdom.
In the two musical episodes, Gabrielle's singing voice was mainly provided by Susan Wood. (This may be because in another brief musical portion of the fourth season episode 'If the Shoe Fits..', Renee O'Connor's voice sounded like that of an opera singer.) In the episode "Lyre, Lyre, Hearts on Fire", O'Connor sang the chorus in "War" and the rap lead in "Gettin' Ready".
Marie-Jeanne
Marie-Jeanne...
Marie-Laure
Marie-Pierre...
Roberta,
