"Mantra" (/ˈmæntrə, ˈmɑːn-, ˈmʌn-/ (Sanskrit: मंत्र);) means a sacred utterance, numinous sound, or a syllable, word, phonemes, or group of words believed by practioners to have psychological and spiritual power in Sanskrit. A mantra may or may not have syntactic structure or literal meaning; the spiritual value of a mantra comes when it is audible, visible, or present in thought.
The earliest mantras were composed in Vedic times by Hindus in India, and those are at least 3000 years old. Mantras are now found in various schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Similar hymns, chants, compositions and concepts are found in Zoroastrianism,Taoism, Christianity, and elsewhere.
The use, structure, function, importance, and types of mantras vary according to the school and philosophy of Hinduism and of Buddhism. Mantras serve a central role in tantra. In this school, mantras are considered equivalent to deities, a sacred formula and deeply personal ritual, and considered to be effective only after initiation. However, in other schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism or Sikhism, initiation is not a requirement.

Genesis
The band is originally from Darjeeling. Within no time, the Mantra band got popularity in Nepal and has produced many patriotNepal. Its music and lyrics are well appreciated by the youths of Nepali Languages, therefore remains very popular in the Himalayas.

Band Popularity
The Mantra band has produced many popular songs. Bir Gorkhali, Himali Nepali, Ekantama and Sanskriti, Timi bina are some of them. Bir Gorkhali, a song which first appeared in their debut album (Mantra) had also been featured by Prashant Tamang (the winner of Indian idol season 3), in his solo album 'Dhanyabad'.
The Current Band Members
The current band members are: Bhasker Dewan (lead vocals), Pragya Lama (guitars), Birju Chowdhary (drums), Manish Thapa (keyboard), Bidhan (flute, saxophone) and Pravash Subba (bass) . The band’s regular song writer (Lyricist) is Sudarshan Tamang. Bishal Thapa is the former drummer and one of the founder members of the band.
Jamal (rapper)
Jamal Phillips (born April 26, 1978), who performs under the mononym Jamal, is an American rapper and music producer. He started his career as one-half of rap duo Illegal, the rap act formed by Dallas Austin in the early 1990s.
Illegal and going solo
Phillips' tenure with Illegal was short-lived; following the lukewarm response to 1993's The Untold Truth — the group's full-length debut — Phillips embarked on a solo career. He teamed up with Erick Sermon of the Def Squad to release 1995's Last Chance, No Breaks, his debut release.
The album (produced by Easy Mo Bee, Redman, Rockwilder and Sermon) peaked at #10 and #37 on Billboard magazine's Heatseekers and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts respectively. The album also spawned a pair of hit singles — "Fades Em All", which sampled The Notorious B.I.G.'s 'Ready To Die' and "Keep It Real", which sampled Stevie Wonder's 'Ribbon In The Sky'.
Smoke-A-Lot Records
In 2006, Jamal signed a deal with rapper Yukmouth to be a part of his Smoke-A-Lot Records label. An as yet to be titled album is due out in the near future.
Jamal (band)
Jamal is a Polish raggamuffin, reggae and dancehall music group from Radom. At various times, it included members Gienia, Księżyc, LUU, EMZK and Siekierka.
The group was founded in 1999 by Łukasz Borowiecki and Tomasz Mioduszewski. The duo started initially as a hip hop band and performed mainly in Polish. The band reformed in 2005 and on June 18 that year, they released a debut album Rewolucje on EMI, with a strong influence of reggae, dancehall and raggamuffin.
Their debut single from the album was "Tubaka" During the annual national Nagroda Muzyczna Fryderyk Awards (known for short as the Fryderyks), their album was nominated for "Best Hip Hop / R&B Album of the Year" in Poland. The band's vocalist Tomasz "Miodu" Mioduszewski credited as Miodu was appeared in Molesta's 2006 music video for "Tak miało być" with the single featuring Jamal and charting in Polish Radio official chart Szczecińska Lista Przebojów (SLiP) reaching #31 in addition to hits Policeman (reaching #25) and "Rewolucje" (reaching #29).
