Mango (airline)

Mango, legally Mango Airlines SOC Ltd, is a state-owned South African low-cost airline based at OR Tambo International Airport near Johannesburg and a subsidiary of South African Airways.

History

Mango was launched on 30 October 2006, with bookings going on sale at midnight on the same date. Mango’s first flight took place on 15 November 2006. Mango will join Star Alliance as a Connecting Partner in the third quarter of 2016.

Mango's head office is at OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, on the mezzanine level of the Domestic Departure Terminal.

The financial figures for Mango are incorporated within the SAA Group figures. (Mango's CEO, Nico Bezuidenhout, said in 2009: "I am not releasing our financial statements as that is sensitive information. We've always said we would report on the results and tell the taxpayer how we have performed. We have never promised to publish the audited financial report.") The figures above therefore include those quoted in 2012 by the South African Minister of Public Enterprises Malusi Gigaba (the 2011-12 loss was stated as "approximately R58 per passenger"). Other details have since been made public, and the SAA 2013 and 2014 Annual Reports have given fuller accounts of some details of Mango's performance.

Generic top-level domain

Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are one of the categories of top-level domains (TLDs) maintained by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) for use in the Domain Name System of the Internet. A top-level domain is the last label of every fully qualified domain name. They are called generic for historic reasons; initially, they were contrasted with country-specific TLDs in RFC 920.

The core group of generic top-level domains consists of the com, info, net, and org domains. In addition, the domains biz, name, and pro are also considered generic; however, these are designated as restricted, because registrations within them require proof of eligibility within the guidelines set for each.

Historically, the group of generic top-level domains included domains, created in the early development of the domain name system, that are now sponsored by designated agencies or organizations and are restricted to specific types of registrants. Thus, domains edu, gov, int, and mil are now considered sponsored top-level domains, much like the themed top-level domains (e.g., jobs). The entire group of domains that do not have a geographic or country designation (see country-code top-level domain) is still often referred to by the term generic TLDs.

Mango is a yellowish-orange color that resembles mangoes. It is named after the fruit.

Mango (Multi-Image Analysis GUI) is a non-commercial software for viewing, editing and analyzing volumetric medical images. Mango is written in Java, and distributed freely in precompiled versions for Linux, Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. It supports NIFTI , ANALYZE, NEMA and DICOM formats, and is able to load and save 2D, 3D and 4D images.

Mango provides tools for creation and editing of regions of interest (ROI) within the images, surface rendering, image stacking (overlaying), filtering in space domain and histogram analysis, among other functions that can be used in neuroimaging analysis for scientific (non-clinical) purposes.

The software can be extended with user-defined functions (plug-ins), which can be created using the Java language and the Mango API.

Airline (1982 TV series)

Airline is a British television series produced by Yorkshire Television for the ITV network in 1982.

The series starred Roy Marsden as Jack Ruskin, a pilot demobbed after the end of the Second World War who starts his own air freight business.

Airline was created by Wilfred Greatorex and lasted for one series of nine episodes broadcast in January & February 1982, with a repeat in the summer of 1984. Other leading cast members were Polly Hemingway, Richard Heffer, Nicholas Bond-Owen, Sean Scanlan and Terence Rigby, while noted guest-stars included Anthony Valentine and Walter Gotell (better-known for his numerous guest stints as KGB General Gogol in a string of James Bond films during the Cold War era).

It was partially filmed at the former RAF Rufforth in Yorkshire.

Airline is a fly on the wall television programme, produced in the United Kingdom that showcases the daily happenings of passengers, ground workers and on-board staff of Britannia (Series 1) and later EasyJet (from Series 2). The show was broadcast between 1998 and 2007 on ITV, is often repeated on ITV2 and shown on syndication on Pick. The programme's success sparked a US version of the series, following American low-cost airline Southwest Airlines.

Production

EasyJet were first approached about the possibility of filming during mid-1998, after the first series with Britannia Airways was discontinued. The first series with EasyJet was broadcast in January 1999, and the cameras have been with EasyJet almost constantly ever since. In 2003 it was ITV's most popular factual programme. The programme has been sold to many countries worldwide, including New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.

Starting with the second series in 1999, the programme follows staff of EasyJet and Reed Aviation (the handling agents) such as: Manager: Graham Fraser; Check-in trouble-shooter: Jane Boulton; Check-in assistant: Katrina Leeder; Supervisors: Leo Jones, Brett Holland and Leanne Cheung, Dispatcher: Kevin Reardon; Captain: James McBride, Stewardess: Janey Stock and of course, Stelios as well as many passengers. The series were originally set in Liverpool and Luton but later incorporated Belfast, Bristol and Newcastle airports. Airline was also occasionally filmed at Gatwick and Stansted airports. Tony Robinson and Veronika Hyks replaced Charlie Higson as voiceover.
