Mandya (Kannada: ಮಂಡ್ಯ) is a city in the state of Karnataka, India. It is the headquarters of Mandya district and is located 40 km from Mysore and 100 km from Bangalore.
Mandya is located at 12°31′N 76°54′E / 12.52°N 76.9°E. It has an average elevation of 678 metres (2224 feet).
The Mysore Sugar Company Ltd. is located in the heart of Mandya City. It is one of the oldest sugar factories to be set up in Karnataka. It has a processing capacity of 5,000 tons of cane per day and was established in 1933-1934.
As of 2001 India census, Mandya had a population of 131,211. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mandya has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 68%. In Mandya, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Mandya (Kannada: ಮಂಡ್ಯ) is a 2006 Indian Kannada romantic action film produced and directed by Om Prakash Rao and written by Purushottam Rao. The film stars Darshan, Radhika and Rakshita in the lead roles. The film is a remake of Telugu film Samba (2004) directed by V. V. Vinayak and starring Jr. NTR, Genelia D'Souza and Bhoomika Chawla. Some of the scenes also draws parallels from Tamil films such as Baashha and Madhurey.
The film was released on 6 January 2006 across Karnataka cinema halls and got mixed response from critics and audience.
The music of the film was composed by Gurukiran.
Mandya Lok Sabha constituency (Kannada: ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಲೋಕ ಸಭೆ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ) is one of the 28 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Karnataka state in southern India. This constituency covers the entire Mandya district and part of Mysore district.
