Malix was a municipality in the district of Plessur in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On 1 January 2010 the municipalities of Malix and Parpan merged into the municipality of Churwalden.
Malix is first mentioned in 1149 as in Umbilico.
Malix has an area, as of 2006, of 12.6 km2 (4.9 sq mi). Of this area, 41.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 46.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 4.8% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (6.6%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).
The municipality is located in the Churwalden sub-district of the Plessur district at the entrance to the Churwalden valley. It consists of the haufendorf village (an irregular, unplanned and quite closely packed village, built around a central square)of Malix and the sections of Kreuz and Spina. The municipalities of Malix and Parpan merged on 1 January 2010 into Churwalden.
Malix has a population (as of 2008) of 709, of which 11.4% are foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 4.3%. Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (90.6%), with Romansh being second most common ( 3.6%) and Serbo-Croatian being third ( 2.6%).
