Mahil

Mahil is a Jat gotra or clan found in the Northern Indian state of Punjab. The current village is Mahil Gaila. The name Mahil was actually spelt incorrectly when the village was first founded. The correct name for the village is Mahal Gaila.

Origin

The place of origin of the Mahils is supposed to have been Lahore. Due to not agreeing with the Mughal view on non-Muslims, they fell out with them and moved to the East Punjab, where they settled in several villages. It started with 4 brothers who's names were Goda, Mahil, Dessu, and Gaila.
