Demon's Crest

Demon's Crest (Japanese: デモンズブレイゾン 魔界村 紋章編, Hepburn: Demonzu Bureizon Makaimura Monshō-hen, "Demon's Blazon: Demon World Village Crest Volume") is a side-scrolling platform video game developed and published by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the third video game starring Firebrand (an enemy character from the Ghosts 'n Goblins series, known as "Red Arremer" in the Japanese version), following Gargoyle's Quest and Gargoyle's Quest II.

Plot

The game's story revolves around the Crests, six magical stones which preside over their respective elements (Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Time and Heaven). When all crests are combined, the Crest of Infinity will appear, allowing its holder infinite power and the ability to conquer all realms with it. The demons of the Demon Realm have long fought each other for possession of the Crests, five of which have since fallen into the hands of a red demon named Firebrand. Seeking infinite power, Firebrand challenges a Demon Dragon for the Crest of Heaven and is victorious, though badly wounded. In his weakness, a rival demon named Phalanx ambushes Firebrand and takes all the Crests except the Fire Crest which shattered into five shards.

Phalanx (video game)

Phalanx is a 1991 space shooter video game developed by ZOOM Inc. and Kemco for the Sharp X68000, Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy Advance. The game was released for the X68000 in Japan in 1991, for the SNES in Japan on August 7, 1992 and in North America in October 1992, and for the GBA in Japan on October 26, 2001, in Europe on November 23, 2001 and in North America on December 27, 2001.

Phalanx is infamous for the incongruous box art in its American release: it displays a bearded, elderly man dressed in overalls, wearing a fedora and playing a banjo while a futuristic spaceship flies in the background. The popular media site IGN named it their fifth "Most Awesome Cover" in a top 25 countdown on their website. The box art designers later admitted that they had deliberately chosen this theme in order to attract the customer with something original, considering there were many space shooters in the market that looked alike. The Game Boy Advance release redesigned the cover in favor of a prominent spaceship image.

Phalanx (horse)

Phalanx (1944–1971) was an American Champion Thoroughbred racehorse. In 1947, he won the Belmont Stakes and was voted American Champion Three-Year-Old Male Horse.

Background

He was sired by Pilate, a son of the 1916 Belmont Stakes winner, Friar Rock. His dam was the outstanding runner Jacola, the American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly of 1937 who beat Seabiscuit by two lengths in the 1938 Laurel Stakes.

Phalanx was conditioned for racing by future U.S. Racing Hall of Fame trainer Syl Veitch.

Racing career

At age two, Phalanx won the Remsen Handicap. At age three, after winning the Wood Memorial Stakes, he was the betting favorite going into the 1947 Kentucky Derby but ran second to Jet Pilot. and third to Faultless in the Preakness Stakes. In the final leg of U.S. Triple Crown series, Phalanx won the Belmont Stakes by five lengths. He also won the Dwyer Stakes, the Empire City Handicap and in the fall, the two-mile Jockey Club Gold Cup.

Racing in 1948, Phalanx finished second to Citation in the Jockey Club Gold Cup and in the Empire City International Gold Cup. He did not get his first win of the year until November 6, when he captured the Daingerfield Handicap at Jamaica Racetrack carrying top weight of 129 pounds.

Summer (War song)

"Summer" is a song by the band War, released as a single from their greatest hits album in 1976. "Summer" peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart, number four on the R&B chart. The track peaked at number one on the Easy Listening chart and was one of three entries to make the chart.

"Summer: Summer Dream / Song for You / Love in the Ice" is Tohoshinki's 12th Japanese single. It was released on August 1, 2007 and debuted at #1 on the Oricon Daily Charts, ending as #2 overall for the week. It was TVXQ's first single in Japan to reach this position on the daily charts and was considered a milestone for the Korean boyband's rising popularity in Japan. With the success of the single, TVXQ won the Gold Artist Award in Best Hits 2007 Japan on November 26.

Pawn Shop is the debut album by American country music duo Brothers Osborne. It was released on January 15, 2016 via EMI Nashville. It includes the singles "Rum", "Stay a Little Longer". and "21 Summer".

Commercial performance

The album debuted at No. 3 on Top Country Albums, and No. 17 on Billboard 200, selling 21,000 copies in its first week. It sold a further 6,100 copies in its second week.

Magic (Pilot song)

"Magic" is a popular 1974 song by Scottish pop rock band Pilot, and was the first hit single for the group. It was written by band members Billy Lyall and David Paton for their debut album, From the Album of the Same Name.

It charted most successfully in Canada, where it reached No. 1, topping the RPM national singles chart on 19 July 1975, and received a gold certification. It climbed as far as #11 on the UK Singles Chart and reached No. 5 during the summer of 1975 in the United States on the Billboard Hot 100.

Uses in popular culture

The song was used in the films Happy Gilmore, Herbie: Fully Loaded, The Magic Roundabout, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and Eve and the Fire Horse as well as the trailer for Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. The song was used in a scene cut from Guardians of the Galaxy; the scene is included on the home media release of the film. Manchester United supporters sing a different version of the song regarding Michael Carrick. The lyrics are as follows: 'Its hard to believe its not Scholes. Its Carrick you know.'
