MWM GmbH

The Caterpillar Energy Solutions GmbH (formerly known as MWM, DEUTZ Power Systems or DPS) is a mechanical engineering company, based in Mannheim. For many years it was known as Motoren-Werke Mannheim (MWM). In 2009 the company was the third-largest producer (by revenue) of gas and diesel engines.

The main focus of production is gensets (gas and diesel engines) for the generation of electrical energy from 400 to 4,300 kWel per unit. It also provides consulting, designing and engineering, construction and commissioning of plants as well as global aftersales service. The company also has its own training center.

History

In 1922 the department for the construction of stationary engines was outsourced and had its name changed from Benz & Cie. Rheinische Gasmotorenfabrik in Mannheim to Motorenwerke Mannheim. The renowned German engineer Prosper L'Orange, a pioneer of diesel engine technology, was the technical manager then. Before that he worked for Benz & Cie. The construction of diesel engines in particular used to be the core business of MWM, amongst others for utility vehicles and agricultural machines.

Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (pronounced [gəˈzɛlʃaft mɪt bəˈʃʁɛŋktɐ ˈhaftʊŋ], abbreviated GmbH [geː ʔɛm beː haː], in Austria also GesmbH or Ges.m.b.H.), which is German for "company with limited liability", is a type of legal entity very common in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The name of the GmbH form emphasizes the fact that the owners (Gesellschafter, also known as members) of the entity are not personally liable for the company's debts.GmbHs are considered legal persons under German and Austrian law. Other variations include mbH (used when the term Gesellschaft is part of the company name itself), and gGmbH (gemeinnützige GmbH) for non-profit companies.

The GmbH has become the most common corporation form in Germany, since the AG (Aktiengesellschaft), the other major company form corresponding to a stock corporation, was much more complicated to form and operate until recently.

History

The laws governing this type of legal entity were adopted in Germany in 1892, and in Austria in 1906. The concept of limited liability created by these laws inspired the legal establishment of the limited liability company form in other countries, although the concept of a limited liability company already existed in the United Kingdom.

Radio Northern Beaches

Radio Northern Beaches (callsign 2MWM) is an Australian volunteer-based community radio station transmitting from studios located in the suburb of Terrey Hills serving the Northern Beaches area of Sydney.

It broadcasts on 88.7 MHz to the north of the peninsula, covering from Palm Beach on the coast, inland to Terrey Hills, in the west. The south of the peninsula is covered on 90.3 MHz including the suburbs of Manly, Balgowlah, Fairlight and Seaforth. The coverage area is shown in this coverage map.

Radio Northern Beaches is run by the Manly-Warringah Media Co-operative Ltd.

Programs

The Manly Warringah Media Co-operative Ltd is set up in the belief that individuals and groups within the community ought to have opportunity to speak to the community in the most effective way possible - radio, television, press and film.

The supply of those means in the hope that facilities offered will bring about a more effective and creative community life, break down prejudice and remove isolation where such isolation has negative results is a primary object of the co-operative. (Rule 13)
