MV Uhuru is a Lake Victoria ferry in East Africa. She is a Kenya Railways Corporation train ferry that operated between Jinja, Mwanza, Musoma and Kisumu.Uhuru means "freedom" in Swahili.
Uhuru and her sister ship MV Umoja were built in 1965 by Yarrow Shipbuilders in Scotstoun, Glasgow, Scotland, and entered service in 1966. At over 300 ft (91 m), they were the longest vessels on any of the East African lakes.
The two vessels were owned and operated by the East African Railways and Harbours Corporation (EARH) until 1977, when EARH was divided between Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Uhuru was transferred to the new Kenya Railways Corporation and Umoja was transferred to the new Tanzania Railways Corporation.
Uhuru has been suspended from service since 2007.

Uhuru (Swahili: freedom) is a four-man South African music group best known for producing the hit single by Mafikizolo titled "Khona". The group, consisting of Themba Sekowe (Maphorisa), Nqobile Mahlanu (Mapiano), Sihle Dlalisisa (DJ Clap) and Xelimpilo Simelane (Xeli), is signed to Kalawa Jazmee.
Prior to the forming of the group in 2012, Mapiano, Maphorisa and Xeli were friends who were into playing contemporary African jazz in Soshanguve where they originated from. The group was named Uhuru after they met DJ Clap who was already an artiste signed to Kalawa Jazmee Records. Maphorisa is the producer for the group while DJ Clap, Mapiano and Xeli are the DJ, pianist and vocalist respectively.
Uhuru shot into limelight in 2013 after the release of the chart-topping single titled "Y-tjukutja", which went on to be dubbed as the song of the year for 2013 in South Africa. They produced and also featured in "Khona", a song which topped many music charts and won several awards in South Africa and beyond including the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards.
Uhuru is a bootleg version of the album Welcome Home (1975) by British Afro-pop band Osibisa, released without authorisation in 1992 by Soundwings Records (MC-102.1076-2) and distributed by Serenade S.A., Barcelona, Spain. The CD duplicates the Welcome Home album (in poorer fidelity) with the addition of one track from Osibisa's live video.
