M. H. Lukman

Muhammad Hatta Lukman (1920? – 1965) was the First Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI). He was executed following the 1965 crackdown on the PKI.

Lukman's father was a kiai, a Muslim religious scholar who was active in Sarekat Rakyat (People's Association), a Communist breakaway group from the Sarekat Islam. After the failed 1926 communist uprising against the Dutch colonial government, Lukman's father was imprisoned and in 1929 was exiled to the Boven Digul detention camp, West Papua. His family went with him, and Lukman grew up among political prisoners. In 1938 Lukman returned to his home town of Tegal and worked as a bus conductor until the 1942 Japanese invasion. He joined the then illegal Indonesian Communist Party in 1943, at the same time as future leader D.N. Aidit.

In 1951, together with Aidit, Njoto and Sudisman, he participated in the takeover of the PKI leadership, a move which was to see the resurgence of the party. By 1965, he was a member of the party central committee and as deputy speaker of the Provisional house of Representatives, a member of President Sukarno's cabinet.

Māhū

Māhū in traditional Hawaiian or Kanaka Maoli and Tahitian or Maohi cultures are third gender persons with traditional roles within Kanaka Maoli and Maohi society, similar to Tongan fakaleiti and Samoan fa'afafine and analogous to the Neapolitan femminiello.

In modern-day Hawaiʻi it is a commonly used slang word for transvestite and transgender persons.

Șelimbăr (German: Schellenberg; Hungarian: Sellenberk) is a commune in central Romania, in the county of Sibiu in Transylvania, to the east of the county seat Sibiu. The village of Șelimbăr is the site of the Battle of Șelimbăr.

Metallicity

In astronomy and physical cosmology, the metallicity or Z is the fraction of mass of a star or other kind of astronomical object that is not in hydrogen (X) or helium (Y). Most of the physical matter in the universe is in the form of hydrogen and helium, so astronomers use the word "metals" as a convenient short term for "all elements except hydrogen and helium". This usage is distinct from the usual physical definition of a solid metal. The astronomical usage is claimed to be justified because in the high-temperature and pressure environment of a star, atoms do not undergo chemical reactions and effectively have no chemical properties, including that of being a metal as usually understood. For example, stars and nebulae with relatively high abundances of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and neon are called "metal-rich" in astrophysical terms, even though those elements are non-metals in chemistry.

The distinction between hydrogen and helium on the one hand and metals on the other is relevant because the primordial universe is believed to have contained virtually no metals, which were later synthesised within stars.

List of Megatokyo characters

In Megatokyo, the popular webcomic by Fred Gallagher, Japanese names are written in Japanese order, with the family name before the given name. The first feature of Megatokyo (a filler art day, referred to as a "dead piro day") which revealed a character's full name had aforementioned character's name written in Western order (given name before the family name). The first time a full Japanese name was mentioned in the actual comic, it was written with Japanese order.

Most of the characters in Megatokyo speak English, Japanese (indicated with angle brackets), and/or L33t (usually subtitled). Not every character speaks every language, so occasionally characters are unable to understand one another.

Protagonists

Piro

Piro (ぴろ) is Megatokyo's protagonist, an author surrogate of Fred Gallagher. Gallagher has stated that Piro is an idealized version of himself when he was in college.

As a character, he is socially inept and frequently depressed or morose; in addition, he is a fairly skilled artist who refuses to believe in his own talent—an exaggerated parallel of Gallagher himself. From a design standpoint, he was originally conceived as a parody of the character Ruri Hoshino, from the Martian Successor Nadesico anime series. Piro's facing of trials and tribulations as he struggles with his unconfident nature is one of Megatokyo's major ongoing themes. Piro is stated to have learned to speak Japanese through watching and reading large amounts of anime and manga.

Motorola 6800 family

The 6800 family of 8-bit microprocessors (µPs) and microcontrollers (µCs) is based upon the Motorola 6800 CPU. The architecture also inspired the MOS Technology 6502, and that company started in the microprocessor business producing 6800 replacements.

The chips primarily competed against Intel's 8-bit family of chips (such as the 8080, or their relations, the ZiLOG Z80 range).
