Professor Lyrical (rapper)

Professor Lyrical is a Hip hop artist from Lowell, Massachusetts, who also teaches college. His 2005 album iNFiNiTi won for album of the year in the M.I.C. Hip Hop awards in Boston.

He is a full-time Lecturer at Northeastern University, and has been an adjunct professor at several other schools part-time in Massachusetts, primarily in the areas of Math and entertainment (including a Hip Hop course at Lasell College, entertainment courses at Bay State College, and math courses at New England Arts Institute). His latest (8/2013) album, Put Em All To Shame is both an album and a book and they appear together as "The World's First Albook." The book is entitled Put Em All To Shame (The Curriculum)].

He speaks and performs regularly at many different venues, but primarily at colleges and universities. He received a BS and an MS (Mathematics) from UMass-Lowell. Lyrical is a doctoral candidate at Northeastern. In the early and mid 1990s he competed in several invitation only freestyle battles, such as the Battle for World Supremacy in NYC and the Universal Zulu Nation East Coast Finals; he went on to win many more in the years to follow. He is part of the Mass Industry Committee, which also created 617Live TV. Lyrical has filled in for fellow Boston rapper Akrobatik on JAM'N 94.5 to perform the daily "SPORTS RAP UP" (part of the highly rated Morning Show) on occasion when Akrobatik has been unavailable. He has appeared on many different radio segments, television shows, news programs and even movies.

Maniac (from Greek μανιακός, maniakos) is a pejorative for an individual who experiences the mood known as mania. Also in common usage it is an insult for someone involved in reckless behavior.

Maniac (1934 film)

Maniac, also known as Sex Maniac, is a 1934 black-and-white exploitation/horror film, directed by Dwain Esper and written by Hildegarde Stadie, Esper's wife, as a loose adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe story "The Black Cat", with references to his "Murders in the Rue Morgue". Esper and Stadie also made the 1936 exploitation film Marihuana.

The film, which was advertised with the tagline "He menaced women with his weird desires!", is in the public domain. A restored version was made available in 1999, as part of a double feature with another Dwain Esper film, Narcotic! (1933). A full length RiffTrax for the movie was released on November 25, 2009, with commentary by Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame. John Wilson, the founder of the Golden Raspberry Award, named Maniac as one of the "100 Most Amusingly Bad Movies Ever Made" in his book The Official Razzies Movie Guide.

Plot

Don Maxwell (William Woods) is a former vaudeville impersonator who is working as the lab assistant to Dr. Meirschultz (Horace B. Carpenter), a mad scientist attempting to bring the dead back to life. When Don kills Meirschultz, he attempts to hide his crime by "becoming" the doctor, taking over his work and copying his appearance and manner. In the process, he slowly goes insane.

Maniac (born Brandon Jolie in Bow, East London) is an English grime producer. Maniac served 6 years of a 14 year sentence after being convicted of conspiracy to murder in 2009 before being given a conditional early release in 2015. In music, Maniac is a highly rated producer who has worked with artists such as Wiley, Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk.

Style

Maniac has been praised for his original, distinctive sound and the variety of sounds he explores in his music. Maniac is considered to be among the most talented producers to have produced Grime music.

Career

2006-2009: Active Work

Maniac first came to prominence at the age of 16 when his track Bow E3 was used by Wiley for his album Playtime Is Over. In 2008 Maniac released a collaborative album with Tinchy Stryder entitled Tinchy Stryder vs. Maniac. This was followed by his first solo CD New Age Grime in 2009. Maniac contributed a number of tracks to the 2008 film Adulthood, recorded a single for a Nike advertising campaign and had his music featured on British soap EastEnders.
