    Lynn Turner (murderer)

Lynn Turner (July 13, 1968 – August 30, 2010), born Julia Lynn Womack, was an American convicted murderer. Starting in 1995, her first husband, Glenn Turner, died after allegedly being sick with the flu. In 2001, the death of her second husband, Randy Thompson, under remarkably similar circumstances aroused the suspicion of law enforcement. After investigation, it was determined by authorities that Lynn Turner had murdered both her husbands by poisoning them with ethylene glycol-based antifreeze. She was arrested ten months after her second husband's death and was tried for Glenn Turner's murder in 2004. She was found guilty and went to trial again for murdering Randy Thompson in 2007, ultimately being convicted. Turner died in prison on August 30, 2010. The cause of death was an apparent suicide by toxic overdose of blood pressure medication.

    Murders

In 1995, Lynn Turner, then 27, murdered her husband, Cobb County, Georgia, police officer Maurice Glenn Turner, age 31. Glenn Turner went to the emergency room on March 2, 1995, complaining of flu-like symptoms. He was treated there and when he felt better, he went home. The next day, he was found dead when Lynn came home. On January 22, 2001, she killed her boyfriend, Forsyth County firefighter Randy Thompson, age 32. She had been having an affair with Thompson at the time of her husband's murder. Thompson reported to the emergency room complaining of a stomach ache and constant vomiting. He was treated and released on January 21. She made him some Jell-O. By the next day, he was dead. She collected around $153,000 in death benefits for her husband's death and $36,000 in her boyfriend's death.

    Famous quotes by Lynn Turner:

"These guys had repeated instances of errors in their financials, delayed filings and people who could not get their job done, who had to be reassigned. It is surprising given all the shareholder money that was spent by the company and taxpayer money spent by the SEC on this investigation, nothing has resulted from it."
"For a company such as Merck to reflect as revenues in its financial statements billions of dollars of co-payments a customer makes directly to another company, the pharmacy, which the pharmacy collects and never remits to Merck, just does not reflect the economics of what is occurring, ... If that is what the SEC accepts, then investors are in trouble and our financial reporting indeed needs improving."
"That's indicative of a company with an imperial CEO and very poor controls."
    "It's fantastic, ... He's a very nice guy for a politician."
"Yes, I would, but only because it is him."
"That stuff isn't free. It has a cost."
"First and foremost it is the company, it's these executives that put these numbers together, it's not the auditors. So the people who are actually in the kitchen, cooking the books, stirring the stew, so to speak, are these executives, and there is no excuse for what happened."
"This year is almost unmatched in history."
"If the council determines not to approve the funding, we assume that will be consistent with a decision not to complete the investigation."
"The good news is, as a result of that process, investors should have greater confidence overall in the numbers going forward."
