Lwengo District is a district in Central Uganda. It is named after Lwengo, the largest town in the district and the location of the district headquarters.
Lwengo District is bordered by Sembabule District to the north, Bukomansimbi District to the northeast, Masaka District to the east, Rakai District to the south, and Lyantonde District to the west. Lwengo, the district headquarters, is located 45 kilometres (28 mi), by road, west of Masaka, the nearest large city. The coordinates of the district are:00 24S, 31 25E.
Lwengo District in one of the newest districts in Uganda. Created by Act of Parliament, the district became functional on 1 July 2010. Prior to that, it was part of Masaka District. Generally, the district is rural, with limited public services. Subsistence agriculture and livestock farming are the two main economic activities in Lwengo. There is no hospital in the district.
The 1991 national population census estimated the district population at about 212,600. Eleven years later, the next census in 2002 put the population in the district at about 242,300. In 2012, the population of Lwengo District was estimated at approximately 267,300.
Lwengo is a town in Central Uganda. It is the chief municipal, administrative and commercial center of Lwengo District. It was known as Lwensinga, prior to 1 July 2010.
Lwengo is located approximately 35 kilometres (22 mi), by road, west of Masaka, the largest city in the sub-region. This location lies approximately 165 kilometres (103 mi), by road, southwest of Kampala, the capital of Uganda and the largest city in that country. The 2014 national population census put the population of Lwengo Municipality at 15,527
