Luxgen
Luxgen Motor Co., Ltd. is a Taiwanese automaker headquartered in Sanyi, Miaoli, Taiwan and a wholly owned subsidiary of Yulon Motor. It was founded in January 2009 and Luxgen vehicles have been manufactured in Hangzhou, China by Dongfeng Yulon since late-2010. Luxgen products are primarily developed by another Yulon subsidiary, HAITEC. The company's slogan is "Think Ahead".
Name
The "Luxgen" name is formed from a combination of the words "Luxury" and "Genius".
Products
Luxgen M7 and Luxgen U7 (Luxgen 7 MPV and Luxgen 7 SUV)
Luxgen's first production model was the Luxgen7 MPV minivan. It was officially shown to the public for the first time on August 19, 2009, and went on sale in Taiwan on September 19, 2009. Luxgen's second product, the Luxgen 7 SUV, was revealed on June 4, 2010. Both cars are powered by a 2.2 L I-4 MEFI turbocharged engine developed by ChungHwa Engine Corp. and tuned by Delphi. The turbocharger is supplied by Garrett and powers the engine up to 175 PS (129 kW; 173 hp) and 28 kg·m (270 N·m; 200 lb·ft) of torque from 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. The 5-speed automatic transmission is supplied by Aisin. ABS, EBD, BAS and the Think+ Multi-purpose system (slightly different by trim level) are all standard equipment. In 2014, the 7 MPV and 7 SUV both received a facelift and name change. Following the 5 sedan sold as the S5, the 7 MPV was changed to M7, while the 7 SUV was changed to U7. Its targeted competitor is BYD.
