Luminous (Jedward song)

"Luminous" is a song by Irish pop duo Jedward. It is the third single from their third album, Young Love. It was released as a digital download on 12 October 2012. The song was written by Swedish songwriters Sebastian Lundberg, Fredrik Häggstam, Johan Gustafson and Marlene Strand, and produced by Trinity Music.

Background

On 27 June, Jedward announced that the third single from Young Love would be "Luminous", with a music video made by their record label, Universal Music Ireland. In September, release dates were announced for 12 October in Ireland, 15 October in the UK and 16 October for the rest of the world. "Luminous" received its first UK radio play during presenter Tina Campbell's show on Meridian Radio after Campbell interviewed them for her blog Craveonmusic - now Craveon Entertainment.

Music video

The "Luminous" video was filmed at Ardmore Studios in Ireland on 30 August 2012. Inspired by Star Wars and Avatar, the video has elements of science fiction and fantasy. The "Luminous" video was previewed on Irish youth TV show Elev8 on 9 October, with a full release on 12 October. The video reached #2 on the Irish iTunes video sales chart and #3 on the UK iTunes video sales chart.

Cesium 137 (band)

Cesium_137 is an American futurepop musical group composed of Isaac Glendening and Vince Guzzardo. It originally also included Matt Cargill.

Biography

The group's first release was the album Advanced/Decay in 2001 on Tonedeaf Records. Its style was electro-industrial. It gained widespread attention, particularly with the moody dance track "Regrets," which was also released as a single and became a danceclub hit.

Soon after the September 11, 2001 attacks, Matt Cargill joined the U.S. military and was no longer available as a member of Cesium_137. Cesium_137 had a hiatus of three years before their next release.

That release was Elemental in 2004; it was issued with Metropolis Records, a much more prominent label than Tonedeaf. It was soon followed by an E.P. release, Luminous, also in 2004 on Metropolis; it composed largely of remixed material from Elemental. Cesium_137's style was much mellower and synthpop inspired and less angst-ridden on these releases than on Advanced/Decay. In 2006, Cesium_137 released their album Intelligent Design. Like its predecessor, it was released by Metropolis.

Luminous is the fourth studio album by British band The Horrors. It was released on 5 May 2014.

Critical reception

At Alternative Press, Annie Zaleski rated the album 4 stars, remarking how "Luminous certainly wears its influences proudly; however, the record boasts undeniable energy and urgency.Pitchfork Media was also positive, with Ian Cohen saying "They have have [sic] mastered their sound and vision, and hopefully they can grow to recognize their heart and soul, too".

Fade (lighting)

In stage lighting, a fade is a gradual increase or decrease of the intensity of light projected onto the stage. The term fade-in refers to gradually changing the lighting level from complete darkness to a predetermined lighting level. A fade-out (also known as fade-to-black) refers to gradually decreasing the intensity of light until none is shining on the stage. A crossfade is when lighting levels are gradually altered from one setting to another. A fade-in is sometimes called a build, and where this terminology is used, a fade is understood to be a fade-out.

Increasing lighting intensities that are not black is referred to as a fade-up. Similarly, decreasing lighting intensities to a level above black is referred to as a fade-down.

Cross-fades are accomplished by executing fade-ups and/or fade-downs. In nearly all theatrical lighting designs, multiple lighting instruments are used to illuminate the stage at any one time. A cue refers to the recorded state of illumination for the entire stage at that time. The intensity of the lighting instruments are often altered with a single crossfade, altering the lighting state of the stage.

"Fade" is a song by British music producer and DJ Jakwob, with vocals courtesy of Maiday. The song was released as a single on 15 March 2013 as a digital download in the UK. The song has peaked to number 35 on the UK Singles Chart.

Music video

A music video to accompany the release of "Fade" was first released onto YouTube and VEVO on 10 February 2013 at a total length of three minutes and twenty-six seconds. The music video was directed by Billy Boyd Cape and features a performance from Nicole O'Neill. In just 40 days the video peaked 1 million views.
