Lull may refer to:
Lull is an EP by American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, released in 1991.
"Rhinoceros" was taken from Gish (but the feedback ending is cut here), "Blue" later appeared on Pisces Iscariot, and a live version of "Slunk" later appeared on Vieuphoria and its soundtrack album Earphoria.
"Bye June" is a 1989 recording from the Reel Time Studio Sessions, originally released on the Moon demo.
The liner notes include partial lyrics for the song "Obscured", written in cake frosting like the album cover. The song would eventually be released as a B-side on the single for "Today" in 1993 and then on the B-side collection Pisces Iscariot in 1994. "Obscured" was originally intended by Billy Corgan to be on Lull but was dropped for reasons that are unclear.
In the liner notes for Pisces Iscariot, Corgan wrote:
Lull is a dark ambient side-project of Mick Harris.
Lull was conceived in late '91 by former Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris (who also created the ambient dub outfit Scorn) in an attempt to create music that would stretch, if not forsake entirely, the structures of conventional music by developing and exploring sound without beats. Harris' initial foray as Lull into low frequency sound exploration was issued in late '92 under the title Dreamt About Dreaming on the respected underground Sentrax label. In between his Scorn commitments, the ever prolific Harris continued to develop Lull by recording and releasing scores of 7's and compilation tracks, as well as two more full-lengths that each punctuated another stage of his progression. Lull favours sombre, minimalistic drones that create a dark, other-worldly atmosphere. Its sound is generally amusical, and very experimental. Borrowing heavily from early works of Brian Eno, Lull's music can be considered either background or foreground listening. A similar-sounding album entitled Somnific Flux was recorded by Harris and Bill Laswell in 1995.
There is nothing special about me
I am just a lil star
If it seems like I'm shining brightly
It's probably a reflection of something you already are
I forget about myself sometime
When there's so many other around
When deep inside you feels darkest
That is where I can always be found
That is where I can always be found
That is where I can always be found
(Cee-Lo Green)
Just keep trying and trying
It's just a matter of timing
Though the grinding is tiring
Don't let 'em stop you from smiling
Just keep trying and trying
Sooner or later you'll find it
It's surprising how inspiring
It is to see you shining
Cause in the dark of the night you're all i can see
and you sure look like a star to me
There is nothing special about me
I am just a lil star
If you try to reach out an touch me
you'll see I'm not really that far
I may not be the brightest nor am I the last one you’ll see
But as long as you notice, that’s just fine with me
Everything’s just fine with me
Everything’s just fine with me
Just keep trying and trying
It's just a matter of timing
Though the grinding is tiring
Don't let 'em stop you from smiling
Just keep trying and trying
Sooner or later you'll find it
It's surprising how inspiring
It is to see you shining
Cause in the dark of the night you're all i can see
and you sure look like a star to me
There is nothing special about me
I am just a lil star
I’ve been running and jumping, but barely
Getting, getting over the bar
I plan on being much more than I, am but that's in do time
But until then I'm guilty, and being humans my crime
Being human that is my crime
Being human that is my crime
Just keep trying and trying
It's just a matter of timing
Though the grinding is tiring
Don't let 'em stop you from smiling
Just keep trying and trying
Sooner of later you'll find it
It's surprising how inspiring
It is to see you shining
Cause in the dark of the night you're all i can see
