Luce is an American, English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, French and Italian surname. It is also a French and Italian feminine given name, variant of Lucia and Lucy, meaning "light".

The English Luce surname is taken from the Norman language that was Latin-based and derives from place names in Normandy based on Latin male personal name Lucius. Lucie Brunet, better known as just Luce, (born in Perpignan, France on 28 January 1990) is a French singer-songwriter and actress originating from Peyrestortes who won in 2010 the eighth series of the French music competition Nouvelle Star.

Beginnings

Luce was born in Perpignan and studied nursing in Montpellier. She also practiced the flute following courses at the Conservatory of dramatic art.

Nouvelle Star

She auditioned for Nouvelle Star (French Idol series) in Marseille where she sang Rita Mitsouko's "Andy" passing in the category Les Inoubliables wearing a moustache and an electronic badge saying "j'aime les poils." She received three yeses and a notable no from judge Philippe Manœuvre. Moving to the second phase at théâtre in Trianon, she interpreted "Tainted Love", a capella, and finally in a trio with Lussi et Stéphanie, she sang "Je dois m'en aller" from Niagara. Finally she sang "C'est comme ça" again from Rita Mitsouko. She was chosen for the live show. She had great support from many people including a 90-year-old Jordi Barre who was invited to congratulate her when she won on 23 June 2010.

Luče

Luče (sometimes Luče ob Savinji,German: Leutsch) is the largest settlement and the centre of the Municipality of Luče in northern Slovenia. Traditionally it belonged to the region of Styria and is now included in the Savinja statistical region.

The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Lawrence and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Celje. It was first mentioned in written documents dating to 1423 and has some 17th-century alterations to the original building.

The domain name "name" is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) in the Domain Name System of the Internet. It is intended for use by individuals for representation of their personal name, nicknames, screen names, pseudonyms, or other types of identification labels.

The top-level domain was founded by Hakon Haugnes and Geir Rasmussen and initially delegated to Global Name Registry in 2001, and become fully operational in January 2002. Verisign was the outsourced operator for .name since the .name launch in 2002 and acquired Global Name Registry in 2008.

On the .name TLD, domains may be registered on the second level (john.name) and the third level (john.doe.name). It is also possible to register an e-mail address of the form [email protected].
