Passages (film)

Passages (Chinese: 路程; pinyin: Lù chéng; literally: "journeys") is a 2004 Chinese drama film directed by Yang Chao. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Caméra d'Or Mention Spéciale prize.

Plot

The film follows two wayward characters, Chen Sihan (Geng Le) and his girlfriend, Xiaoping (Chang Jieping). On the verge of entering university, both characters are looking for a way to make their fortune. The two travel to the city of Wuhan from their home in Anhui province, in the hope that they can purchase rare mushrooms to sell back home. When they return home, they discover they have been cheated and return to Wuhan in hopes of getting a refund. Returning unsuccessfully, Chen Sihan and Xiaoping are forced to decide whether to continue their journey or enter a school life.

Lu Cheng

Lu Cheng (盧程) was an official of the Chinese Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period state Later Tang (and Later Tang's predecessor state Jin), briefly serving as a chancellor at the time of the founding of Later Tang.

Background

It is not known when or where Lu Cheng was born, although it was said that he was from a prominent aristocratic family. Both his grandfather Lu Yi (盧懿) and father Lu Yun (盧蘊) were said to be prominent officials, although their titles were not stated in historical accounts. Lu Cheng himself passed the imperial examinations in the Jinshi class late in Tianfu era (901-904) of Emperor Zhaozong of Tang. The chancellor Cui Yin, who was then also the acting director of the salt and iron monopolies, he made Lu one of his surveyors.

Hangzhou Greentown F.C.

Hangzhou Greentown Football Club (simplified Chinese: 杭州绿城; traditional Chinese: 杭州綠城; pinyin: Hángzhōu Lǜchéng) is a professional Chinese football club that currently participates in the Chinese Super League division (top tier) under licence from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang and their home stadium is the Hangzhou Huanglong Stadium that has a seating capacity of 52,672. The club's main investor is the Zhejiang-based Greentown China Holdings Limited company, which is owned by real estate tycoon Song Weiping.

The club was founded on January 14, 1998 and they made their debut in the third tier of China's football league pyramid in the 1999 league season. On November 23, 2000 the club bought the first team of Jilin Aodong as well as their position in the second division for 25 million Yuan. They have subsequently won promotion to the top tier after finishing runners-up in the 2006 league season and the highest position they have ever finished is fourth in the 2010 Chinese Super League season.
