Singing career

Early work

Lacey started singing when she was 16 years old. A few years later, she began working as a backing singer to the band "Falling Man". They recorded an album and gigged regularly until they eventually disbanded. Then she started fronting a blues/rock band touring locally in the South East. However, she felt the need to develop her songwriting capabilities in her own right, so she left the band, but yet teamed up with one of its members. They recorded several songs and had interest from both Virgin and EMI, but broke up soon after. Lacey joined "Frankenstein’s Baby", an indie/folk band. They recorded several songs, and performed regularly at the "Mean Fiddler".

Love You More (JLS song)

"Love You More" is a song by English boy band JLS from their second studio album, Outta This World. The band co-wrote the song with Toby Gad (who also helmed production) and Wayne Hector. It was released as the band's second single from the album on 12 November 2010. The track serves as the official Children in Need charity single for 2010. "Love You More" debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart on 21 November 2010, making it JLS's fourth number-one single. The video for the song premiered on the group's YouTube channel on 1 October 2010.

Background

JLS recorded the track for inclusion on their second studio album, Outta This World. The band stated that the track was not originally intended to be released as a single, however, after being asked to release 2010's official Children in Need single, they believed that no other tracks from the album would be suitable. The band officially announced the single following rumours that they would themselves be doing some special fundraising for the event. The band have agreed to waive all royalties on the track, with 100% of profits and sales being donated to Children In Need. They describe the song as "a soulful ballad, which involves us demonstrating smooth R&B vocals with tender, heartfelt lyrics".

Love You More (film)

Love You More is a short drama directed by Sam Taylor-Wood, written by Patrick Marber and produced by Anthony Minghella, which was screened in Main Competition for the Palme d'Or at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The film includes two songs by Buzzcocks and features a cameo appearance by the band's lead singer Pete Shelley as a customer at a record store.

  • Marks & Spencer

Marks and Spencer plc (also known as M&S) is a major British multinational retailer headquartered in the City of Westminster, London. It specialises in the selling of clothing, home products and luxury food products. M&S was founded in 1884 by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer in Leeds.

In 1998, the company became the first British retailer to make a pre-tax profit of over £1 billion, although subsequently it went into a sudden slump, which took the company, its shareholders, who included hundreds of thousands of small investors, and nearly all retail analysts and business journalists, by surprise. In November 2009, it was announced that Marc Bolland, formerly of Morrisons, would take over as chief executive from executive chairman Stuart Rose in early 2010; Rose remained in the role of non-executive chairman until he was replaced by Robert Swannell in January 2011.

It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

    History

    Establishment

The company was founded by a partnership between Michael Marks, a Polish Jew from Słonim (Marks was born into a Polish-Jewish family, a Polish refugee living in the Russian Empire, now in Belarus), and Thomas Spencer, a cashier from the English market town of Skipton in North Yorkshire. On his arrival in England, Marks worked for a company in Leeds, called Barran, which employed refugees (see Sir John Barran, 1st Baronet). In 1884 he met Isaac Jowitt Dewhirst while looking for work. Dewhirst lent Marks £5 which he used to establish his Penny Bazaar on Kirkgate Market, in Leeds. Dewhirst also taught him a little English. Dewhirst's cashier was Tom Spencer, an excellent bookkeeper, whose lively and intelligent second wife, Agnes, helped improve Marks' English. In 1894, when Marks acquired a permanent stall in Leeds' covered market, he invited Spencer to become his partner.

    Love you more

    by: Steps

You can make the sun turn purple
You can make the sea turn turtle
But you know you can never make me
    Love you more
You can turn wine into water
    Turn sadness into laughter
But you know you can never make me
    Love you more
    Let the sky fall down
    Let the leaves turn brown
Still you know you can never make me
    Love you more
    Let the redwoods die
    Let the wells run dry
Still you know you can never make me
    Love you more
You can make dew into diamonds
    Or pacify the lions
But you know you can never make me
    Love you more
You can make me dance to order
My self hung torn and quartered
But you know you can never make me
    Love you more
    Let the new day hide
    Leave the scars inside
Still you know you can never make me
    Love you more
    Let the rain pour down
    Let the valleys drown
Still you know you can never make me
Hey you know you can never make me
    Love you more
    Ooh ooh ooh yeah yeah
We can make the sun turn purple
We can make the sea turn turtle
But you know you can never make me
    Love you more
We can turn wine into water
    Turn sadness into laughter
But you know you can never make me
    Love you more
    Let the sky fall down
    Let the leaves turn brown
Still you know you can never make me
    Love you more
    Let the redwoods die
    As the wells run dry
Still you know you can never make me
Hey you know you can never make me
Yeah you know you can never make me
