Love/Hate (band)

Love/Hate is a Los Angeles, California based hard rock band, who achieved their greatest fame in the early 1990s.

Love/Hate was formed in 1985, when Jizzy Pearl (real name Jim Wilkinson) joined Jon E. Love, Skid Rose, and Joey Gold, in an 1980s influenced electronica band called Dataclan, after their previous lead singer walked out while playing in Japan. They lived together in an LA warehouse called SoulHouse, and in the first year put out a 4 track EP and played a short and not very well received tour of Mexico. At this time the band had a very 'glam' look, wearing make up. This may have been part of their bad reception in Mexico.

In 1986 the band renamed themselves as Love/Hate from a song they played at the time called Love and Hate. They also changed their look and style to a more gothic image, having been influenced by the release of the album Love by The Cult. For the next couple of years they tried various styles of music and were pitched to many record companies in an attempt to get signed.

Plot

Love + Hate is a modern love story set across the racial divide in a Northern town. Adam has been brought up in a home and community that fosters racism. Naseema is a girl from the same town. But what Adam and Naseema really share is a secret desire to break free of their small town and its inhibitions, something they discover while working together in a DIY store. At first resistant, they cannot avoid their mutual attraction, and embark on a relationship which threatens to bring down their families as well as themselves.

Love + Hate was filmed in Blackburn and partially set in a wallpaper shop in the town.

Love–hate relationship

A love–hate relationship is an interpersonal relationship involving simultaneous or alternating emotions of love and hate—something particularly common when emotions are intense.

The term is used frequently in psychology, popular writing, and journalism. It can be applied to relationships with inanimate objects, or even concepts, as well as those of a romantic nature or between siblings and parents/children.

A love–hate relationship has been linked to the occurrence of emotional ambivalence in early childhood; to conflicting responses by different ego states within the same person; or to the inevitable co-existence of egoistic conflicts with the object of love.

Narcissists have been seen as particularly prone to aggressive reactions towards love objects, not least when issues of self-identity are involved: in extreme instances, hate at the very existence of the other may be the only emotion felt, until love breaks through behind it.

Research from Yale University suggests love–hate relationships may be the result of poor self-esteem.

Hate is a Polish death metal band from Warsaw, Poland, formed in 1990. Their most recent album, Crusade:Zero, was released in January 2015, under Napalm Records.

Biography

Hate was formed in Warsaw, Poland, in 1990 by guitarist and vocalist Adam The First Sinner, guitarist Qack and drummer Mittloff. Between 1990 and 1995 the band recorded three demo tapes: Aborrence (1992), Evil Art (1994) and Unwritten Law (1995). In 1996 Hate signed their first record contract with a small underground label, Novum Vox Mortiis, who released their first two albums, Daemon Qui Fecit Terram (1996) and Lord Is Avenger (1997) in Poland.

In 2000, Hate released mini-album Victims through larger Polish label Metal Mind Records. Later that year, gigs with Immolation brought the band to the attention of American label Dwell Records, who included Hate's cover version of "Postmortem" on the compilation Gateways To Hell: Tribute To Slayer (Vol. 2). This led to Hate signing their first record contract outside their homeland with WW3/Mercenary Music who released a compilation of the albums Lord Is Avenger and Victims as Holy Dead Trinity in 2001.
