Nǁng language

Nǁng or Nǁŋǃke, commonly known by its primary dialect Nǀuu (Nǀhuki), is a moribund Tuu (Khoisan) language once spoken in South Africa. It is no longer spoken on a daily basis, as the speakers live in different villages. The dialect name ǂKhomani is used for the entire people by the South African government, but the descendents of ǂKhomani-dialect speakers now speak Khoekhoe. As of January 2013, only three speakers of Nǀuu and two of ǁ’Au remain.

Classification and name

Nǁng belongs to the Tuu (Taa–ǃKwi) language family, with extinct ǀXam being its closest relative and Taa its closest living relative.

The two recent dialects are Nǀuu (Nǀhuki) and ǁ’Au (ǁKh’au). Extinct dialects include ǂKhomani and Langeberg. ǂKhomani had been recorded by Doke and by Maingard, Nǀhuki by Weshphal, and Langeberg by Dorothea Bleek. As of 2010, most remaining speakers spoke Nǀuu dialect, and this was the name Nǁng appeared under when it was rediscovered. However, two spoke ǁ’Au and rejected the label Nǀuu.

N.U. (film)

N.U. (short for Nettezza urbana, Italian municipal cleansing service) is a short 1948 documentary film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. The film examines a weekday morning of Italian janitors, captured at work on the streets of post-WWII Rome.

Although undoubtedly neorealistic in its style, this documentary does foreshadow some of Antonioni's own future trademarks, such as slow-moving camera that is enamoured with alienated and deserted urban landscapes and inanimate objects of architecture, nature, etc. and seemingly less than concerned with sweepers, washers and cleaners (almost indistinguishable from bums, and sometimes behaving much in the same way). The film's narration consists of barely several phrases; musically soundtrack alternates classical-like piano improvisations with jazzy pieces.

In 1948 N.U. won Antonioni Nastro d'Argento Best Documentary award. So did his L'amorosa menzogna next year.

Louder (DJ Fresh song)

"Louder" is a song by British producer DJ Fresh. It features vocals from Welsh singer Sian Evans. The song serves as the theme song for the Lucozade Sport Lite campaign. It was released on 3 July 2011 on Ministry of Sound. "Louder" is considered an important landmark for dubstep music as it was the first of the genre to reach number one on the UK Singles Chart. The song was featured on the soundtrack to SCE Studio Liverpool's Wipeout 2048 and used as the promotional theme for Fox8's reality program Cricket Superstar.

The music video for the song was uploaded to YouTube on 23 May 2011. It was shot by director Ben Newman as part of the Lucozade Sport Lite campaign.

Critical reception

Robert Copsey of Digital Spy gave the song a positive review stating:

"Like sipping on a bottle of the electrolyte-infused liquid, its wobbly drum 'n' bass lines are guaranteed to satisfy many a club-goers craving for a three-minute fix of hang-banging, fist-pumping and head-spinning music. "It's gonna get louder," warns guest vocalist Sian Evans on the hi-NRG chorus before breaking into a glorious middle 8 that sounds like a lost '90s classic - prompting the response, 'Don't worry love, keep cranking that dial!'.

Louder (Charice song)

"Louder" is the second single of Filipina pop and R&B singer Charice from her second international studio album Infinity released on May 20, 2011, ahead of its planned May 30 release. This song was written by Daniel Jamas, Leah Haywood, Shelly Peiken and produced by Dreamlab.

Critical reception

'Louder' gained positive reviews from contemporary music critics. According to Amanda Hensel of PopCrush, Charice actually comes to terms with the soiled love affair pretty quickly, and vows to keep marching on because it’s the right thing to do. She also addressed ‘Louder’ to be destined for greatness as the feel-good anthem of the summer.

Music video

After her 9/11 performances in Florida, Charice shot the music video for "Louder" on September 13, 2011. The music video was directed by Tim Cruz. Gil Duldulao, who choreographed the One Day music video, again lend his talent to the "Louder" music video. The music video premiered on EW.com on 18 October 2011. In November 18, 2011, the music video received the Best Music Video Award in the 2011 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM).

Louder (Neon Jungle song)

"Louder" is a 2014 song by Neon Jungle from their 2014 album Welcome to the Jungle. It is their fourth single.

Background

The band said the song discussed feelings and emotions and not being able to control the way someone feels towards another, and wanting to increase the volume of everything else around one to block it out.

The song is different from the group's previous singles in that it is slower and not a dance track. Releasing such a track had always been Neon Jungle's intention, to surprise people. This song has gained comparisons to The Saturdays' "Lies" from their debut album Chasing Lights.

Music video

A music video was produced for the song which featured the group performing intensely in a massive metal dome structure. It was directed by Colin Tilley.

Critical reception

The song has received general acclaim from music critics. Meggie Morris of "Renownedforsound.com" praised the song, stating that

Morris ultimately gave the song 4 out of 5 stars. Popcrush.com commended the song for containing "booming drum beats, vibrant scenes and an intensity that permeates throughout the entire video", whereas Sugarscape.com called it "well snazzy". Mistreemagazine.co.uk noted that the song "has been defined as a raw number which sees the band strip themselves of their pop hooks and dance beats" whilst commending it for being "emotionally raw" and "not without a pop hook or a contagious beat that keeps you hitting replay", concluding that it was "a pop-fuelled track and it's bloody brilliant. Electronically fuelled, the combination of diverse vocals, hard-hitting percussion and the addictive melody during the chorus will make you turn the volume up louder."
