Courage the Cowardly Dog

Courage the Cowardly Dog is an American animated comedy horror television series created by John R. Dilworth for Cartoon Network as part of the network's Cartoon Cartoons block. It follows an anthropomorphic beagle who lives with a married elderly pair in the middle of Nowhere. The trio are frequently thrown into bizarre misadventures, often involving the paranormal/supernatural. The series is known for its dark, surreal humor and atmosphere.

Dilworth pitched the series to Hanna-Barbera's animated shorts showcase What a Cartoon!, and a pilot aired on Cartoon Network in early 1996. The segment was nominated for an Academy Award, but lost to Wallace and Gromit's A Close Shave. Cartoon Network greenlit a series from the short, which premiered on November 12, 1999 and ended on November 22, 2002, with four seasons of 13 episodes each produced. During its run, the series was nominated for 2 Golden Reel Awards, winning 1 additional Golden Reel Awards and 1 Annie Award. Spin-off media include comic books, DVD and VHS releases, and collectible toys.

Germans with the last name Katz may originate in the Rhine River region of Germany, where the Katz Castle is located. As a Jewish surname, Katz is an abbreviation formed from the Hebrew initials of the term Kohen Tzedeq (Hebrew: כּ״ץ‎), meaning "priest of justice"/"authentic priest" or Kohen Tzadok meaning the name-bearer is of patrilineal descent of the Kohanim sons of Zadok. It has been used since the seventeenth century, or perhaps somewhat earlier, as an epithet of the descendants of Aaron. The collocation is most likely derived from Melchizedek ("king of righteousness"), who is called the priest ("kohen") of the most high God (Genesis xiv. 18), or perhaps from Psalm cxxxii. 9: Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness ("tzedeq"). Lou! is a French comic book series and animated television series created by Julien Neel. The comic is published by Glénat and the animation is broadcast in France on M6 and Disney Channel. The series combines elements of farce and romantic comedy aimed at children while giving adult readers witty critiques of psychobabble and how mobile phones are changing social 'rules'.

Characters

Lou- The title character, a twelve-year-old blond girl (by the fifth comic volume she is fourteen) who is lively, funny, creative and independent - but also frustrated that she is shorter than most of her peers. She lives with her mother in an apartment, in the fifth volume they move to a new house after the apartment building burns down. Her best friend is Mina, and she has a crush on her neighbor, Tristan. She also owns a nameless cat. A recurring theme is inversion where daughter acts more mature than her mum.

Emma - Lou's mother, a woman about 30 years old and a single mother. She appears to have her eyes always hidden under her hair and wears large glasses. In her adolescence she was rebellious and troublesome and fell in love with a rock musician. The rock musician leaves when he learns that she is pregnant and she ends up raising her daughter, Lou, on her own. She manages to finish her studies and becomes the author of a science fiction novel called Sidera: the space wanderer which achieved moderate success. Lou's mother is a fan of video games and the band Queen. Thanks to Lou, she starts a relationship with her new neighbor Richard, and in the fifth volume she is pregnant again, with Richard being the father. However, Richard leaves her because of an apparent nervous breakdown over how to raise the new baby. In the end, the baby is born and is named Fulgor, becoming Lou's little brother.
