Loreta
Loreta is a large pilgrimage destination in Hradčany, a district of Prague, Czech Republic. It consists of a cloister, the church of the Lord’s Birth, a Holy Hut and the clock tower with a famous chime.
The construction had started in 1626 and the Holy Hut was blessed on March 25, 1631. The architect was the Italian Giovanni Orsi; the project was financed by a noblewoman Kateřina Benigna of the Lobkowicz family. Fifty years later the place of pilgrimage was already surrounded by cloisters to which after 1740 an upper storey by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.
The Face wall in Baroque style was designed by the architects Christoph Dientzenhofer and Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer and added at the beginning of the 18th century.
The chapel is most known for its peal, heard since August 15, 1695. It was constructed during 1694 by watchmaker Peter Neumann from thirty smaller and larger bells.
Today the building also hosts large collection of liturgical tools, mainly monstrances. Exhibitions are occasionally held on the first floor of the cloister.
Loreta (actress)
Loreta Hairapedian Tabrizi (Armenian: Լորետա Հայրապետեան) was an Iranian Armenian stage and film Actress.
Biography
Born Loreta Hairapedian Tabrizi in 1911 in Tehran, she was graduate from the Moscow State University. Following a succession of roles in performances of William Shakespeare directed by Vahram Arsen Papazian she married the well-know stage director Abdol Hossein Noushin and joined Iran Club of Theater. There, she appeared in grand scale performances of such plays as Othello, Volpone, The Blue Bird and Gas Light. In 1953 Loreta traveled abroad, and on her return after a decade, she broke into films and made six films the first of which was The Night of Execution (Davoud Mollapour, 1970). The list includes the co-production Bride of Fortune and Ebrahim Golestan's The Mystery of The Treasure of The Valley of The Genies al well. Her only TV series was Khosrov-Mirza II (Nosrat Karimi). Loreta left Iran 1979 and went to live in Vienna, Austria, where she died in 1998
