Long Hill (Beverly, Massachusetts)

Long Hill is a 114-acre (0.46 km²) estate in Beverly, Massachusetts and is managed by the Trustees of Reservations. From 1916 to 1979, the estate was the summer home of Ellery Sedgwick, author and editor of The Atlantic Monthly. The estate contains a Federal style home with formal gardens, 2 miles (3.2 km) of hiking trails, woodland, meadows and an apple orchard. The 5 acres (20,000 m²) of cultivated gardens and 100 acres (0.40 km²) of woodland grounds are open to the public daily. There are two miles (3 km) of trails.

Cerro Largo, Rio Grande do Sul

Cerro Largo is a municipality in the northwestern part of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It occupies an area of 174.64 km² (67.43 sq mi) at 28º09'0" south 54º45'0" west, at an altitude of 211 m (692 ft) above sealevel. Its population as of 2010 was 15,174 inhabitants.

Cerro Largo was settled soon after 1900 mostly by German Brazilians from the old German settlements on the eastern part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the Altkolonie (in German). Portuguese is the official language but Riograndenser Hunsrückisch is still spoken by many citizens in the area. It is the birthplace of São Paulo's current archbishop, Cardinal Odilo Scherer. In 2012 the state chamber of deputies voted unanimously in favor of recognizing this Germanic dialect an official historical culture good to be preserved.
