Live It Up!, Holly Woods' latest album, was recorded in 1986 after Toronto's label, Solid Gold Records, went into receivership forcing the band to split up.
Two of the members, Holly Woods and Scott Kreyer, regrouped and continued on to a studio in Atlanta to record new tracks with producer Sonny Limbo. The album was shopped around but labels shied away, fearing repercussions from Solid Gold. With the unexpected death of Sonny a few years later, any hope of finding a home for the recordings died with him. The tapes were shelved for over twenty years.
In 2007, these "lost masters” were found and released, with the tracks remixed by Cyclone Records' founder Brad Trew.
Vex Magazine states: "Forget all about looking for that retro-80s music you love so much. This album IS 80s music! Originally recorded in 1986 and all but lost until now, the former member of the iconic rock band, Toronto, has released a collection of songs that will have you kicking back with a beer, while fondly reminiscing about the days of mullets, Mustang 5.0s and ‘Res-parties’. Party on!" (May 2007)
Live It Up! (1962) is the 16th album released by Johnny Mathis. It was his 13th original studio album, with three compilations of hit singles having been released by him at this point.
This is the second and final album collaboration between singer Mathis and arranger/conductor Nelson Riddle. Where their earlier album together featured a set list of ballads and swingers, this album features all uptempo songs. As such, it makes a perfect companion to the earlier album.
