  • Live and let live (World War I)

Live and let live is the spontaneous rise of non-aggressive co-operative behaviour that developed during the First World War particularly during prolonged periods of trench warfare on the Western Front. Perhaps one of the most famous examples of this is the Christmas Truce of 1914.

It is a process that can be characterised as the deliberate abstaining from the use of violence during war. Sometimes it can take the form of overt truces or pacts negotiated locally by soldiers. At other times it can be a tacit behaviour—sometimes characterised as "letting sleeping dogs lie"—whereby both sides refrain from firing or using their weapons, or deliberately discharge them in a ritualistic or routine way that signals their non-lethal intent.

    Examples

This behaviour was found at the small-unit level, sections, platoons or companies, usually observed by the "other ranks", e.g., privates and non-commissioned officers. Examples were found from the lone soldier standing sentry duty, refusing to fire on exposed enemy soldiers, up to snipers, machine-guns teams and even field-artillery batteries.

    Live and Let Live (film)

Live and Let Live is a 2013 documentary film by German filmmaker and director Marc Pierschel. The film follows several vegan activists and interviews vegan proponents. The documentary explores the reasons for adopting veganism and how people live according to this lifestyle.

    Plot

The documentary film examines the relationship that humans have with animal by following six different individuals who moved to veganism for different reasons. With, for example, a butcher who became a vegan chef, a factory farmer who started a farm sanctuary, a professional athlete who changed his complete diet, and activists for the animal rights movement Animal Equality. Besides the film explores the history of veganism and the ethical, environmental and health reasons why people become vegan by interviewing proponents of the vegan movement.

    Accolades

In 2014 the movie, among other places, was screened on the 19th Milano Film Festival,Tage des unabhängigen Films in Augsburg and the Utopianale Filmfestival in Hannover. Forever
Forever may not be long enough for my love
I have a will but I'm lost inside your time
If you could, would you come with me to the other side?
Forever may not be long enough
Forever may not be long enough
Forever may not be long enough for this life
    Forever
    Forever
    Forever
    This world is never enough
And I'm not giving it up
    (Forever)
My faith in love is like blood
I spill it freely for some
    (Forever)
My faith in love is like blood
    It flows in everyone
    (Forever)
Don't stop to look at the clock
    Forever won't be long enough
Forever may not be long enough for you to know
Just how far I'd travel, just how far I would go
Open your heart and everything will be alright
Open your heart, baby, leave with me, don't be afraid
    Forever
    This world is never enough
And I'm not giving it up
    (Forever)
My faith in love is like blood
I spill it freely for some
