Liu Yiqian (Chinese: 刘益谦 pinyin: Liú Yìqiān, pronounced [ljǔ îtɕʰjɛ́n], born 1963/1964) is a Chinese businessman who built his personal fortune by investing in stock trading, real estate and pharmaceuticals. He is chairman of Sunline Group, a Shanghai-based investment company As of 2010, the value of his real estate properties have increased to $10 billion yuan (USD $1,613,970,528.90) over the past 19 years.
According to Forbes, as of July 23, 2015, Liu has a net worth of USD$1.37 billion. He is ranked as the 163rd wealthiest individual in China and 1,533rd wealthiest in the world.
In November 2015, Liu attracted the attention of the international art market when he was the winning bidder for Amedeo Modigliani’s “Reclining Nude” at a Christie’s auction, offering USD$170.4 million, which he paid for with his American Express card. In early 2014, Liu made waves by paying USD$36.3 million for a small Ming cup made of porcelain. It will be exhibited in his private (now public) "Long Museum" in Puxi, the historic center of Shanghai.
