Little Star (TV series)

Little Star is an afternoon Philippine drama series produced by GMA Network and TAPE Inc. It stars Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Lovi Poe and Paolo Contis. This series is directed by Maryo J. Delos Reyes. The show premiered on October 25, 2010 replacing Trudis Liit in the Philippines and on October 28, 2010 on GMA Pinoy TV.

The series concluded on February 11, 2011 and replaced by Nita Negrita. It ran for 16 weeks with 80 episodes in all. From February 12, 2014 until May 20, 2014 GMA Life TV aired its English-dubbed version worldwide.

Little Star (novel)

Little Star (Swedish: Lilla stjärna) is a 2010 horror/drama novel written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It is named after Lilla stjärna, the Swedish entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 1958 held in Hilversum, the Netherlands.

Plot

In 1992, a musician named Lennart finds an infant left for dead in the woods. He takes her back to his wife, Laila and the two raise the child in secrecy, believing that her catatonic and trance-like state will result in her being perceived as mentally ill. Their adult son, Jerry, frequently visits the child, whom he names Theres. Lennart becomes obsessed with Theres due to her angelic voice. He convinces her to never leave the house by telling her that the world is full of "big people" who want to eat up the "little people," like her. He begins to teach her about music and states that music and love are found in the heart and in the mind.

When Theres is approximately twelve, she violently dismembers both Lennart and Laila in an attempt to find the love inside their heads. Afterwards, Jerry whisks her away to Stockholm to start a new life. He ultimately enters her in the reality show, Idol, where she dazzles the viewers with her voice, but eventually is voted off the show due to her inability to engage the audience.

Little Star (The Elegants song)

"Little Star" is a song recorded by The Elegants. Members Vito Picone and Arthur Venosa co-wrote the lyrics. The music was adapted from "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." When released as a single in 1958, it topped both the R&B Best Sellers list and the Billboard Hot 100; however, it was the only song that ever charted for The Elegants. Reportedly, the Elegants refused to pay payola to a prominent New York disc jockey, which inhibited air play of their follow up recordings.

"Little Star" remains one of the most popular examples of doo wop music. Phil Spector described it as an "awful good record." Other artists to record this song include Dion, Randy & the Rainbows, The Slades, Vera Lynn, Linda Scott and Bobby Vee.

A small portion of the song was performed by Paul Simon as part of the 1989 Dion song "Written on the Subway Wall."

Ray of Light

Ray of Light is the seventh studio album by American singer Madonna, released on February 22, 1998 by Maverick Records. After giving birth to her first child, Lourdes, Madonna started working on the album with producers Babyface and Patrick Leonard. Following failed sessions with them, Madonna pursued a new musical direction with English producer William Orbit. The recording took place over four months and experienced problems with Orbit's hardware Pro Tools arrangement, which would break down, and recording would have to be delayed until they could be repaired.

A major departure from her previous work, Ray of Light is an electronica record which incorporates several genres, including techno, trip hop, drum and bass, ambient, rock, and classical music. Vocally, the album saw Madonna sing with greater breadth and a fuller tone. Mystical themes are also strongly present in both lyrics and music as a result of Madonna embracing Kabbalah, her study of Hinduism and Buddhism, as well as her daily practice of Hatha Yoga.
