Lionel Richie (album)

Lionel Richie is the debut solo album by R&B singer Lionel Richie. It was recorded and released while Richie was still a member of the Commodores. He would leave the group shortly after. It was released in 1982 on Motown Records. The first single, "Truly", topped the Billboard Hot 100. Follow-up single "You Are" reached number four, and "My Love" reached number five. The album was also a hit, reaching number one on the Cashbox albums chart on December 11, 1982.

In 2003, Lionel Richie was re-released as part of a remaster series that saw two additional tracks added to the overall package. A solo version of "Endless Love" and an instrumental version of "You Are" now round out the CD.

As well as featuring English musician Thomas Dolby on synthesizers, Joe Walsh provided the guitar solo for the song "Wandering Stranger". It was his first album appearance since playing all tracks on John Entwistle's fifth solo album, Too Late the Hero.

The song was not a part of this release; however, the song now appears on the 2003 remastered edition as one of two bonus tracks (as a solo performance only). Themes

Sundfør said in an interview, "When I first started to work on the album, I wanted to make an album about violence, and then, as I was writing the songs, there were violent aspects, but they were usually about love or relationships, how you connect with other people. And in the end, that turned out to be 10 love songs."

The Love Songs (Clint Black album)

The Love Songs is a 2007 (see 2007 in music) album by country singer Clint Black. It consists of newly recorded versions of many of his love songs along with a cover version of Jim Croce's "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song".

According to Black, many of the songs remain true to the original version while a few get a slight update. "I wanted to do a record that's not just a reissue of hits," Black said. "Sometimes when I go back and revisit my older recordings, I find little things that, in hindsight, I feel I could improve on just a bit—some new twist that might make it just a little bit better. It might be a slight change in the arrangement, or the way vocals are layered. And there were also times when I listened to a particular recording and felt there really wasn't a change that would make it better."

The album cover was designed by Peter Max and depicts Black with wife Lisa Hartman Black.

    Truly: The Love Songs

    by: Lionel Richie

Show me a river that's so deep
Show me a mountain so high
I'll show you love that'll last forever
    Flying high so high
Show me a place where dreams are for dreamers
And all the things you wish come true yeah
I'd wish the world had all happy people
Then there'd be no more wishing to do
Oh oh oh oh oh sweet love oh oh oh oh oh sweet love
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh whoo sweet sweet love
    Sun shines over the rainbow
    High on a hill
Take a ride on a magic carpet
And you'll know it's for real
    The world is filled with
    All the lonely people
    Trying to find their way
All they need is a hand to guide them to a brighter day
Oh oh oh oh oh sweet love
Oh oh oh oh oh sweet love
Oh oh oh oh oh oh whoo sweet love
Sweet love that comes through the ages
Reach out and touch my soul
Give my life so much meaning
And everyone a heart of gold
Oh oh oh oh oh sweet love
Oh oh oh oh oh sweet love
Oh oh oh oh oh oh sweet love sweet sweet love
    You need it Love
Oh oh oh sweet love sweet sweet love
Oh oh oh oh oh sweet love
    I know your searching
    I know your searching
For a little love a little peace and undertanding
And I know it's been hard trying to find your way
But you got to keep on searching harder day by day
Cause I want you and you and you you you
You and you and you and you and you
To stand on up yes sir
Put a little love in your heart
A little heart in your love
Together we can make a way
    Listen to me
    Don't wonder too hard
Of what I'm trying to say
Cause this love loves the only way
    Nothing but love
    Oh oh sweet love
Oh oh oh oh oh sweet love
