Lindsay (name)

Lindsay is an English surname, originally derived from the territory of Lindsey in Lincolnshire, from the Old English toponym Lindesege "Lindum Isle", i.e. "marshlands of Lincoln".

In the late 19th century, the surname gave rise to the given name Lindsay (and variants Lindsey, Lyndsy, etc.) in the United States, at first as a male given name, and since the mid-20th century increasingly as a female given name. Its popularity as a girls' name is due to the actress Lindsay Wagner (born 1949 as Lindsay Jean Wagner), who became famous in 1976 as The Bionic Woman. It was the 314th most popular name for girls born in the United States in 2007, having ranked among the top 200 names for girls from the 1970s through the 1990s. The alternative spelling Lindsey ranked as the 226th most popular name for girls born in 2007 in the United States.

Surname

The surname is ultimately connected to the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Lindsey.

The surname of Lindsay continued to be borne by the Earls of Balcarres and Earls of Crawford, down to the current holder of the title, Robert Lindsay, 29th Earl of Crawford (b. 1927), while the Earls of Lindsay have used the additional surname of Lindesay since its adoption by Reginald Lindesay-Bethune, 12th Earl of Lindsay in 1919.

The domain name "name" is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) in the Domain Name System of the Internet. It is intended for use by individuals for representation of their personal name, nicknames, screen names, pseudonyms, or other types of identification labels.

The top-level domain was founded by Hakon Haugnes and Geir Rasmussen and initially delegated to Global Name Registry in 2001, and become fully operational in January 2002. Verisign was the outsourced operator for .name since the .name launch in 2002 and acquired Global Name Registry in 2008.

On the .name TLD, domains may be registered on the second level (john.name) and the third level (john.doe.name). It is also possible to register an e-mail address of the form [email protected]. Name

A name is a term used for identification. Names can identify a class or category of things, or a single thing, either uniquely, or within a given context. A personal name identifies, not necessarily uniquely, a specific individual human. The name of a specific entity is sometimes called a proper name (although that term has a philosophical meaning also) and is, when consisting of only one word, a proper noun. An identifier is a name that identifies (that is, labels the identity of) either a unique object or a unique class of objects, where the "object" or class may be an idea, physical [countable] object (or class thereof), or physical [noncountable] substance (or class thereof). The abbreviation ID often refers to identity, identification (the process of identifying), or an identifier (that is, an instance of identification). An identifier may be a word, number, letter, symbol, or any combination of those.

The words, numbers, letters, or symbols may follow an encoding system (wherein letters, digits, words, or symbols stand for (represent) ideas or longer names) or they may simply be arbitrary. Lindsay (crater)

Lindsay is a small lunar impact crater that is located in the central highlands of the Moon. It lies in the irregular terrain to the northwest of the landing site of the Apollo 16 mission. To the south is the crater Anděl, and Taylor is to the east-northeast.

Dr E. J. Öpik stated that this crater was likely formed by the impact of an asteroid about 1 mile (1.6 km) in diameter. The outer rim of this crater is worn and irregular, with incisions along the northern and southern inner walls. There is a cleft in the southeastern rim that links with the slightly larger Dollond B. The interior floor is level and nearly featureless, except for a pair of small crterlets and a slender cleft at the west end.

This crater was designated Dollond C before being given its current name by the IAU. Dollond itself is located to the south-southeast, due east of Anděl.

Lindsay is an American docuseries that documents actress Lindsay Lohan's rehabilitation recovery and work following a public period of struggles in her personal life and career. The series premiered on March 9, 2014 on the Oprah Winfrey Network, and concluded on April 20, 2014. Premiere ratings were described as "modest" and then dropped, while critical reception was mixed.

Background and production

In July 2013, an Oprah Winfrey Network spokesperson confirmed that Oprah Winfrey had reached a deal to do a one-on-one interview with Lohan for Oprah's Next Chapter, to be followed by an eight-episode series. The interview was Lohan's first interview post-rehab. Filming of Lindsay began in August 2013 in New York City. Network promotion described the series as an "honest, no-holds-barred account" of Lohan's life. It was directed by Amy Rice, who previously co-directed the 2009 HBO documentary By the People: The Election of Barack Obama.

Reception

The premiere had 693,000 viewers, described as "so-so" by The Hollywood Reporter and "modest" by Entertainment Weekly. It had the highest ratings of OWN's 2014 unscripted premieres, and with young women 18–34, ratings were up 231% from the previous year. In comparison, the 2013 interview with Lohan on Oprah's Next Chapter drew 892,000 viewers. By the second episode, ratings had dropped by 24% to 527,000 viewers, and with OWN's target demographic of women 25–54 years old, ratings dropped by 36%. The penultimate episode had 468,000 viewers and the two-hour finale ratings were down to 406,000.
