Limón y Sal

Limón y Sal ("Lemon and Salt") is the title of the fourth studio album released by Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas. It was recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina and first released in Mexico on May 30, 2006 and in the United States on June 6, 2006. To date the album has sold over 4 millon copies worldwide.

The album's overall themes deal with the general ups and downs of life and relationships. All the songs were composed by Venegas, with the exception of three songs, where she had the help of Coti Sorokin and Cachorro López. Some notable songs are "Primer Día" and its reggae rhythm, sung in a duet with Dante Spinetta. In "De Qué Me Sirve" she plays the accordion in a tango and "bolero" fashion. "Eres Para Mí" is a duet with Chilean singer Anita Tijoux.

The album was nominated for Album of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards of 2006, winning one prize for Best Alternative Music Album and won for Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, sharing a historical tie with Ricardo Arjona and his album "Adentro"

Limón y sal (song)

"Limón y sal" (English: Lemon and salt) is Julieta Venegas' second single release from her fourth studio album with the same name. Released in Mexico and USA on August 30, 2006. It did not chart on the billboard hot Latin songs chart.

The song was written by Julieta Venegas and Jorge Villamizar (Ex-vocalist of Bacilos) and produced by Cachorro López. The song is about the acceptance of a loved one, their strengths and weaknesses.

Music video

The music video is inspired by classic fairy tales in which she appears in a forest filled with half human creatures. In the video, Julieta meets a werewolf and both fall for each other. They start living in a little cabin in the woods, but when the full moon comes, the werewolf runs away and suddenly becomes a very attractive man.

Mesmerized by this new looks, he goes home with the intention of having a romantic picnic with Julieta, but when she looks at him she's distraught and starts to scream in horror, fainting right away. In her sleep, she dreams of an unicorn and an old man. Two pig-headed gentlemen then escort her through a forest, while the old man turns out to be a wizard who invokes apples in order to scare the pigs away. She court-dances with all of them for a while until the real-world's forest satyr plays its horn, waking her up to find her beloved werewolf back to his usual self.

Limón

Puerto Limón, commonly known as Limón (Spanish for "lemon"), is the capital city and main hub of Limón province, as well as of the cantón (county) of Limón in Costa Rica. It is the second-largest city in Costa Rica after the capital, San José, with a population of over 55,000 (including surrounding towns), and is home of a multicultural community. Part of the community traces its roots to Italian, Jamaican and Chinese laborers who worked on a late nineteenth-century railroad project that connected San José to Puerto Limón. Until 1948, the Costa Rican government did not recognize Afro-Caribbean people as citizens and restricted their movement outside Limón province. As a result of this "travel ban", this Afro-Caribbean population became firmly established in the region, which influenced the decision to not move even after it was legally permitted. The Afro-Caribbean community speaks Spanish and Limonese Creole, a creole of English.

Puerto Limón contains two port terminals, Limón and Moín, which permit the shipment of Costa Rican exports as well as the anchoring of cruise ships. Health care is provided for the city by Hospital Dr. Tony Facio Castro. Two small islands, Uvita Island and Isla de Pájaros, are just offshore.

Limón is the name of the first canton in the province of Limón in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 1,765.79 km², and has a population of 97,102. Its capital is the provincial capital city of Puerto Limón.

The canton lies along the Caribbean coast from the mouth of the Río Toro in the north to Tuba Creek (Río Tuba) in the south. It ranges westward into the Cordillera de Tilarán, with a southwest finger of the canton reaching up to the peak of Cerro Chirripó, the highest point in Costa Rica.

History

A district of Limón was established in 1870 under the jurisdiction of the central government in San José. It was recognized as a canton by a decree of August 19, 1903, when the neighboring canton of Turrialba was created on territory that had previously been part of Limón.
