The Gran Teatre del Liceu (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈɡɾan teˈatɾə ðəɫ ɫiˈsɛw]), or simply Liceu in Catalan and Liceo in Spanish, is an opera house on La Rambla in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The Liceu opened on 4 April 1847.
In 1837, the Liceo Filodramático de Montesión (Philodramatic Lyceum of Montesión, now named Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu) was founded in Barcelona to promote musical education (hence the name "Liceo", or lyceum) and organize scenic representations of opera performed by Liceo students. A theater was built in the convent building — named Teatro de Montesión or Teatro del Liceo de Montesión — and plays and operas performed: the first was Vicenzo Bellini's Norma (3 February 1838). The repertoire was Italian, the most performed composers being Donizetti and Mercadante as well as Bellini and Rossini. The Barcelona premiere of Hérold's Zampa was held here.
In 1838 the society changed its name to Liceo Dramático Filarmónico de S. M. la Reina Isabel II (Dramatic Philharmonic Lyceum of H.M. Queen Elisabeth). Lack of space, as well as pressures brought to bear by a group of nuns (who were the former proprietors of the convent and had recovered rights to return), motivated the Liceu to leave its headquarters in 1844. The last theatre performance was on 8 September.
The lyceum is a category of educational institution defined within the education system of many countries, mainly in Europe. The definition varies between countries; usually it is a type of secondary school.
"Lyceum" is a Latin rendering of the Ancient Greek Λύκειον ("Lykeion"), the name of a gymnasium in Classical Athens dedicated to Apollo Lyceus. This original Lyceum is remembered as the location of the peripatetic school of Aristotle. Some countries derive the name for their modern schools from the Latin but use the Greek name for the ancient school: for example, Dutch has "Lykeion" (ancient) and "Lyceum" (modern), both rendered "lyceum" in English (note that in classical Latin the "C" in lyceum was always pronounced as a K, not a soft C, as in modern English).
This name, Lycée, was retrieved and utilized by Napoleon in 1802 to name the main secondary education establishments. From France the name spread in many countries influenced by French culture.
The Goa Lyceum (Portuguese: Liceu de Goa) in Panaji, Goa - established in 1854, following the Portuguese model - was the first public secondary school in the state, then a Portuguese territory. Later, the Goa Lyceum received the official title of Liceu Nacional Afonso de Albuquerque (Afonso de Albuquerque National Lyceum).
Liceu is a Barcelona Metro station situated under the La Rambla between Gran Teatre del Liceu and Mercat de la Boqueria in the Barri Gòtic, part of Barcelona's district of Ciutat Vella. It is served by TMB-operated Barcelona Metro line L3.
The station consists of a single level, on which there are two tracks served by two side platforms. The station has two pairs of street entrances, with one pair at the Teatre del Liceu end of the station and the other at the Mercat end. Each entrance in a pair leads only to one of the two platforms, and there is no connection between the two platforms without exiting the station and returning to street level.
The station was opened on 15 July 1925 as the southern terminus of the Gran Metropolitano de Barcelona from Lesseps station. At first it just had entrances at the Teatre del Liceu end of the station, but in the 1960s new accesses were added at the other end of the station. In 1946, the line was extended a short distance south to Fernando station, which closed when the line was further extended to Drassanes station in 1968. The station was completely rebuilt between 2007 and 2008 to make it more accessible.
Alessandro Lindblad (born 7 July 1991), commonly known by his stage name Alesso, is a Swedish musician, DJ and record producer. He has worked with numerous EDM (and other) artists, including Theo Hutchcraft, Ryan Tedder, Calvin Harris, Usher, David Guetta, and Sebastian Ingrosso. He has also performed at numerous music festivals, including Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Tomorrowland. In 2012, MTV named Alesso one of the "EDM Rookies to Watch", and Madonna, who invited him to open select dates on her MDNA Tour, called Alesso "the next big thing in dance music." As of 2015, he ranks 13th on DJ Magazine's list of the top 100 DJs. His debut full-length album Forever was released on May 22, 2015 by Def Jam Recordings.
Lindblad was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and is of Italian descent. He started playing piano at age 7, but became interested in EDM when he was 16. Alesso first gained recognition with the release of his Alesso EP in 2010. In early 2011, Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia contacted Alesso and asked if he wanted to work together. Ingrosso introduced him to DJing and helped him with the production of tracks. Since that time, Ingrosso has acted as a mentor for Alesso, who referred to the elder Swede as a "big brother." Despite having learned to DJ in 2011, Alesso made his debut on DJ Magazine's list of the top 100 DJs at number 70 in that same year.

Holding on to pieces, of our summer, going by
On a wall of memories, at the edges of my mind
Whoa, they used to tell a story
But they're just paper to me now
Whoa, they used to say 1000 words
But now they can't be heard
We ran out of time, said goodbye too soon
Pictures being faded, of the summer nights in june
Blurry all the memories, still remember what was true
Pictures they are fading, changing, leaving
A silhouette of you
Foot stamps on the pavements
I'm retracing every corner we turned to see
If we could have kept these moments from burning
To ashes and dust
Whoa, they used to say 1000 words
But now they can't be heard
We ran out of time, said goodbye too soon
Pictures being faded, of the summer nights in june
Blurry all the memories, still remember what was true
Pictures they are fading, changing, leaving
A silhouette of you
A silhouette of you
A silhouette of you
A silhouette of you
We ran out of time, said goodbye too soon
Pictures being faded, of the summer nights in june
Blurry all the memories, still remember what was true
Pictures they are fading, changing, leaving
We ran out of time, said goodbye too soon
Pictures being faded, of the summer nights in june
Blurry all the memories, still remember what was true
Pictures they are fading, changing, leaving
