Liang (state)

Liang (Chinese: 梁; pinyin: Liáng) was one of the states during the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China, bordering the State of Qin and was conquered by Duke Mu of Qin in 641 BCE. The rulers of Liang had the surname Ying (嬴),. The capital of Liang was located south of modern City of Hancheng in Shaanxi.

In 703 BC, the rulers of the five states of Western Guo, Rui (芮國), Xun (荀國) and Jia (賈國), including the State of Liang, suppressed Duke Wu of Quwo using armed force.

In 654 BC, Prince Yiwu from the State of Jin escaped to Liang.. The ruler of Liang (梁伯) betrothed his daughter Liang Ying (梁嬴) to Prince Yiwu.

In 642 BC, the ruler of Liang wanted to build a new capital but it was seized by the State of Qin after it was completed.

In 641 BC, Liang was conquered by the State of Qin. According to the Zuo Zhuan, the Liang people were not able to bear the work given to them by the ruler of Liang so that the State of Qin easily conquered Liang.

State (magazine)

State.ie (formerly State Magazine) is an Irish website and formerly a monthly music magazine, which launched in April 2008 and ceased to print in January 2009 having published a total of ten issues. The magazine continues online and was voted Best Music Site in 2008 and Best Web Publication in 2010 in the Irish Web Awards. Originally the concept of the magazine involved a hard copy of which there was a charge to purchase, however after six issues it was decided to make the magazine's content free both online and in print. The first issue, April 2008, appeared on Irish shelves on 6 March 2008 and featured Michael Stipe of R.E.M. on the cover. This immediately garnered comparisons between the new magazine's similarities with Hot Press who featured Stipe on their cover at the same time, a move widely thought to be an attempt by Hot Press to stifle State's status as a serious 'alternative' to the more established local magazine. At a price of €5.50, State charged €2 more than Hot Press.

State (CTA Englewood Line station)

State was a station on the Englewood Branch of the Chicago 'L'. The station opened on November 3, 1905 and closed on September 2, 1973 as part of a group of budget-related CTA station closings.

Liang (born October 23, 1980 in Wuhan, China) is a Chinese American acrobat. She spent her childhood and teen years touring extensively worldwide with her hometown Chinese acrobatic troupe, Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe. She was awarded 2 gold medals for excellence in international acrobatic competition in Paris and her native China.

Career

After moving to the United States in 1998, Liang began performing in her own one woman show, Liang Acrobatic & Comedy Show. She toured the states with her on stage partner Bill Patti as the MC and comedian.

Liang gained national exposure in 2000 when she was cast in a Justin Timberlake "N'SYNC" video. That video was shown on HBO as part of "N'SYNC'S live concert from New York's Madison Square Garden. Liang was also featured in 2003 on Fox TV's 30 Seconds to Fame where she placed third in the competition. She also was asked to appear on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon where she performed and was saluted as a young star of tomorrow in 2004. Liang has made guests appearances on the syndicated Daily Buzz TV show (2004), Sabado Gigante on Univision (2006) and on NBC's Today Show (2007).
