"Let's Just Do It" is a posthumous single by the American rapper, singer, and songwriter Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and is the lead single from her first posthumous album, Eye Legacy.
The song was originally recorded in 1998 by Tionne and Lisa for possible inclusion in the 1999 multi-platinum FanMail. The song was not included with FanMail as it did not fit the album's sound, because the album focused on futuristic production.
When the idea for Eye Legacy was brought about, "Let's Just Do It" was selected to go on the album and was then chosen to be the lead single. In 2008, Missy and Rozonda recorded new vocals on the song, whilst the track was remixed and was given a new beat.
The track was first played November 5, 2008, at Hot Dance Airplay reporter WDRE/Nassau, New York.
The song samples "State of the World" by Janet Jackson without credit.
On June 2, 2014, a new version of the song featuring Reigndrop Lopes was released on CD Baby.
Despite the low download sales of the single, "Let's Just Do It" received a very positive review from Billboard magazine. It says "The energy that made the trio's upbeat singles international smashes is evident here, along with Lisa's essence—a reminder that TLC was among the most successful female R&B groups of all time. Originally recorded in 1998, the Heavy Weights and Marcus DL's production builds a catchy and contemporary rhythmic structure."
Just Do It (stylized as JUST DO IT.) is a trademark of shoe company Nike, and one of the core components of Nike's brand. The slogan was coined in 1988 at an advertising agency meeting. The founder of Wieden+Kennedy agency, Dan Wieden credits the inspiration for his "Just Do It" Nike slogan to Gary Gilmore’s last words. The "Just Do It" campaign allowed Nike to further increase its share of the North American domestic sport-shoe business from 18% to 43%, (from $877 million to $9.2 billion in worldwide sales) from 1988 to 1998. In many Nike-related situations, "Just Do It" appears alongside the Nike tick logo, known as the Swoosh.
The "Just Do It" campaign launched in 1988 was highly successful with the Age selecting the campaign as one of the top two taglines of the 20th century with it being both "universal and intensely personal". Whilst Reebok was directing their campaign at aerobics during the fitness craze of the 1980s, Nike responded with "a tough, take no prisoners ad campaign". One of the campaign's objectives was to target all American regardless of age, gender or physical fitness level which led to Nike becoming worn as a fashion statement, not just as fitness gear (Nearly 80% of Nike’s running shoes aren’t worn for their intended purpose). Nike’s fundamental objective was to represent sneakers as a fashion statement to consumers, especially females, teens and males aged 18–40.

Do It was originally released in 1987 and included three studio recordings (1-3) and 6 live tracks recorded in Deventer, the Netherlands October 22, 1987 (5-10). The three studio tracks are Pink Fairies, Velvet Underground and Louis Prima & Sam Butera covers, produced by Ian MacKaye, well known in the genre of hardcore punk for his work with Minor Threat and as co-owner of the Dischord record label.
The record was subsequently re-mastered and re-released in 2007 with additional live tracks from the Fall 1987 Tour. These include the addition of the introductory track titled "Joe Is Everything, Everything Is Joe" (which refers to Rollins' roommate Joe Cole), two live tracks from Kortrijk, Belgium (11-12), two live tracks from London, England (13-14) and the final track from Ravensburg, Germany (15). Six more tracks from the same tour can be found on the rare Split Live LP with the Dutch noise band Gore from a show recorded at El Mocambo in Toronto, Ontario on May 17, 1987. The three studio tracks were also included in the re-mastered package of the Life Time album.
The imperative is a grammatical mood that forms commands or requests, including the giving of prohibition or permission, or any other kind of advice or exhortation.
An example of a verb in the imperative mood is be in the English sentence "Please be quiet". Imperatives of this type imply a second-person subject (you); some languages also have first- and third-person imperatives, with the meaning of "let's (do something)" or "let him/her/them (do something)" (these forms may alternatively be called cohortative and jussive).
Imperative mood can be denoted by the glossing abbreviation IMP. It is one of the irrealis moods.
Imperative mood is often expressed using special conjugated verb forms. Like other finite verb forms, imperatives often inflect for person and number. Second-person imperatives (used for ordering or requesting performance directly from the person being addressed) are most common, but some languages also have imperative forms for the first and third persons (alternatively called cohortative and jussive respectively).
