He moved to the United States in 1961, first working for Fairchild Semiconductor. He joined Intel Corporation when it was founded in 1968, he retired in 2003 as an executivevice president of the company. He was the third employee of Intel, hired directly by Andrew Grove. He was the head of the MOS design department where the first microprocessor, the Intel 4004 was developed. He has been an innovator and strategicleader throughout Intel's history. He was the founder and – until 2003 – president of the Intel Capital strategic investment program.
